@OrdinarilyBobКүн бұрын
I've always thought that behind-the-couch tables (to say nothing of amazing motorized storage like you've built) is a huge gap in the furniture industry. Furniture stores should offer a matching BtC table to every couch. Honestly, in most cases a simple 6-8 inch wide table would do for drinks, snacks, and maybe a knick-knack or two. Adding outlets on higher-end models, and then hidden storage of one type or another on even more deluxe offerings. Anyway, great video!
@markwmetzger10 күн бұрын
I've been excited about this ever since I heard you talking about it on the podcast. What a great build!!
@tealkerberus74810 күн бұрын
I can see why the manufacturer would be reluctant to sponsor this. Cutting the feet short would make the units less stable in regular use, and someone who didn't know what they were doing could make a desk or table that would then tip over on someone and cause an injury - or worse. But given the location of these units, that's obviously not a problem - they can't fall over with the couch in front of them! If you were putting them somewhere that it was a concern, I guess you'd think about bolting the feet to the floor. Nice work, and nice to see what these units are good for. Thank you for sharing!
@woogaloo10 күн бұрын
This is honestly the first time I've ever seen someone cut down one of those lifts and use it like this. Love the idea as making them tables behind the couch. The ending was hilarious!

This is really cool, Bob. Interesting that the company wasn't interested in the sponsorship deal with you. I feel like it's actually a bigger selling point that they can be modified… perhaps some sort of liability as far as modifying the feet and whatnot, but still… better selling point, in my opinion. Nice one!

Man this whole thing is really tempting to do in my own living room. We're not pressed for space but we are pressed for wall space/storage space. Super neat idea. It also gives me the idea of doing something similar with the back half of a counter/workspace, and you could use some motors coiling up airline wire to lift it off the ground.

I thinks this could also be a nice addition to something like this.

Hi Bob, I’m Sheik and I like to pitch stuff. About the sponsors, here’s what I would do If I were in your shoes, perhaps it can be useful for similar project in the future. A lot of times, companies just don’t see the value you can bring other than more eyes. They can’t connect with the bigger picture. In that case I’d offer my expertise to do a consult on improving or expanding on their product, the content creation is your payment. Briefly introduce yourself and bullet point your expertise not what you do. Explain your specific needs or scenario, mention why you like and want their product, and how it ALMOST fits ALL your needs, say like 89%. then, offer to consult for them free of charge if they provide the products to be used as the core components and improve upon. This would then allows you to make (and document for R&D)) a prototype that solves your problem and provides solutions to similar problems. Thanks for what you do, Love your stuff ❤
