You should stop by Richmond, VA to look at the Church Hill railroad tunnel. It collapsed on a train and was abandoned. The train and two railworkers are still in there.

You should take a short trip up to Savage, Maryland. Find the Bollman Truss Bridge (right there at the mill) then the old dam ruins up the river a little ways.

We still had Trollies around where I grew up in the 1950s and 60s that I used to ride occasionally. There was a huge uproar when they decided to replace them with Busses in the mid 60s. And that would have been a good time to have a drone available, assuming that drones are permitted there.

Fun fact, I remember riding on the yellow & green D.C. trolleys as a kid while on vacation there in the late 1950's and early 60's. Then as a college student in the 1970's (doing a summer abroad behind the "iron curtain") I ran into them again in what was then Yugoslavia. They were being used on the tram system in Sarajevo but still had the metal labels on them identifying them as Washington, D.C. trolleys. This was a time when very few Americans could visit these east European Soviet satellite nations. I certainly didn't see any other Americans in Bosnia or Croatia. So it was comforting to find a little piece of home running on their railroad tracks.

Congrats on escaping from L.A.! If you ever get near Waxhachie Texas, there is a similar abandoned railroad bridge just south of downtown. Very popular with photographers for family portraits. I've used it for unit portraits at a WWII reenactment there.

Missed the last few reports by you guys (went back and gave them a thumbs up and some comments to help the stats.) I am always interested in Urban rail - Trams/Streetcars. I lived in Toronto for 35 years. Their streetcar network is still intact and they are in the process of modernizing it with some European style Streetcars - built by Bombardier Canada; of course.

I am a Southern California home-boy and have explored most of the places you have visited. Your journeys are always fun to watch. If you want to see a trestle, then join me in northern Pennsylvania to visit the Kinzua Trestle: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinzua_Bridge This was an engineering marvel of its day and part of it blew down, leaving splendid ruins.

IRL my initials are DC, so thanks for the shoutout, Bethany! If you end up visiting the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, say hi to the giant African Elephant for me--I first saw it when I was 12 years old and it made such an impression I remember the moment like it was yesterday 🙂. Enjoy your time in the nation's capital!

You should do a video on the old trolly cars in L.A.. Especially the remains of the L.A. Pacific Electric Red Cars on Glendale Blvd. and San Fernando Road. Some remains are still there.

I believe there are some more trestles up towards Glen Echo, not as long though, mroe to cross creeks flowing down to the Potomac. Trollies went out to Vienna, VA "Electric Avenue" was named for that and you can still see large concrete supports for the trolley next to the W&OD trail.

Going COASTAL. For next time, you might want to check out the Chincoteague ponies on enchanting Assateague Island. The island is itself is just off the DelMarVa peninsula. Besides the ponies, there are trails, beach, white cranes and black ibis.

"Right here in this heart and home and fountain-head of law--in this great factory where are forged those rules that create good order and compel virtue and honesty in the other communities of the land, rascality achieves its highest perfection. Here rewards are conferred for conniving at dishonesty, but never for exposing it...I meet a man in the Avenue, sometimes, ...a clerk of a high grade in one of the Departments; but he was a stranger and had no rules of action for his guidance except some effete maxims of integrity picked up in Sunday school that snare to the feet of the unsophisticated!--and some unpractical moral wisdom instilled into him by his mother, who meant well, poor soul, but whose teachings were morally bound to train up her boy for the poor-house." - Mark Twain
