Where have I been? That’s the first time I’ve seen the Tom turkeys fanning their tail feathers! Beautiful stately birds. Very interesting the characteristics of the different breeds of chickens. Years ago all we had were white leghorns and road island reds. I remember we had a mean spirited leghorn rooster that I feared when gathering eggs for my grandma. The good old days! Love the sweet goose I call Ramona with the blue eyes. 🪿🥰😺

I always enjoy your videos. Try some show Quality Barred Rocks. The ones I have are way more placid and easy going. Different lines act different. The exhibition breeders in the usa are so easy to contact. Quality chickens are not that much more expensive. However if I have to bring them to South Africa they cost a fortune. You build all these lovely coops. Put some show Quality in them. A hatchery chicken eats the same amount as a show chicken in most cases. A really beautiful Barred Plymouth Rock is impressive. The two hens from the USA lines I have are also very quiet. Weirdly they don't even make a noise when they have laid their eggs like the other Barred P R I have. Lovely for a town environment.

Why this is anecdotal I worked on a large poultry farm for about 2 years i can only speak for the United States but we/they do not give any steroids or hormones to any of the birds in the US it is illegal anti biotics are fine only ever gave them some when sick so its not like you feed it to them everyday but I was not getting paid to be in that area so thats all I know about the antibiotics. I do know if the chicken is to be slaughtered they had to wait because of a withdrawal period I don't know how long though. Another incorrect/misinformed statement would be the size of the bird final weight for us we used we used leghorns for the eggs they produce very large white eggs and the meat went out to other processors but we did have a small meat section I was not in the section but I believe they raised cornish cross or a different type of cornish I cant recall. I hope this cleared somethings up about the large poultry farms love your videos keep it up it is always informative and interesting!
