Gardening is always a challenge and different every year. You just keep going. We add all our chicken and duck poo from the daily clean-outs of there pens into all our garden beds and compost it all winter. This year our spring was cloudy and rainy for weeks on end so gardening got started a bit late. . We live in the suburbs where all our neighbors have landscapers and chemicals sprayed on there lawns as well as bug sprays. Our solution was to plant heavily in all our garden beds which take up 70 percent of the backyard. We let Catnip and Comfrey grow freely in spots which bring in tons of bees for us. Comfrey is also used for fertilizer and to feed the chickens and ducks. Bee Balm and Mountain Mint as well as Ecanachia for pollinators.

for plants with aggressive rhizomes I found cutting the plants off eventually kills the plant. Takes years but every year they will be less and less. Good morning y'all Sorry to see your potatoes was a no go so far.. You did get a little bit though. They usually do pretty good in tubs. Just do a little bit more research see why they went to moosh. Maybe try the potato saks. I've seen people on yt have good luck with them. Its just trial and error. But still you put in the work. Like you said no worries any more. Some things work out some turns into a learning tool. But. Life over all is Good!! Keep moving forward. God sees All!! ☺️👍💜 sending love and support from Florida 🤗🌺✨✨✨

every onion that has flower stock will not get bigger, you should pick any that get the flower stock as soon as see them as they use the bulb to grow the flower. they also will not store well, this happens allot when planting onion sets. try to get live tiny plants to plant or start from seed to avoid the flowering onion problems. onions are biennial so they want to grow a bulb 1st year and make flower second year, onion sets have already gone dormant so its easy for them to go to flower as they think its the second year they are growing.

I got a new fur baby yesterday… it was time to bring another baby home after losing Hotch in May… a lady had some pit bull puppies that she was giving away… they were an oops litter… their mama was going in to get spayed and turned out she was 3-4 weeks pregnant so the vet couldn’t do the procedure… mama is a full blood pit bull and the daddy is either the other pit bull she has or a pit bull / boxer mix…. Some of the puppies you could see the boxer and some of them look like pit bulls… the one I took was the little runt… she is white with a few very light freckles and then three brown spots on her back and side that reminded me of Hazel Nuts… so….. yep, I named her Hazel…. She is going to be trained to be my service dog… Hotch was my service dog… he detected my seizures… I need another service dog to be able to do that for me,,, I hope Hazel will be able to do what Hotch did… if not, no big deal… she will still make a good service dog and most importantly, a loyal, happy companion…. I am so in love with this little one… I’m glad I found her…
@HiddenSpringFarm3 ай бұрын
Well that’s a very cool story, Hazel will need a bit of training to get her to where you need her. Patience and persistence. Best of luck, you’ll have a friend for life in any case.

@@HiddenSpringFarm yes, she will need lots of training… she is already doing well with the potty training… and she has figured out when I make a certain clicking sound, I want her to come to me… I also use the command "come" with the clicking sound following it so she will associate that sound… I will do similar things with sit, stay and heel… once I have taught her the basics, I will enroll her in a service training class… with Hotch, I did the same thing except he figured out my seizure disorder all on his own… I didn’t have to teach him that… in fact he was the one that showed me he knew I was about to have a seizure! Every time I would have one, right before, he would grab my wrist and pull me… as first we thought he was just trying to be alpha or dominant… but the we noticed that every time he did that a minute or so later, I would have a seizure! So, from that point on, if he ever grabbed my wrist and pulled on me or whimpered, no matter where I was, I sat down… even if it was in the middle of the kitchen on the floor… and sure enough, I would have a seizure… when I would come out of it, Hotch would be laying right next to me with his head up on my chest… when I finally had my sense back and figured out where I was and what happened, I would pet him and tell him thank you and praise him for being such a good boy… he would get all happy and bounce around and then after I got up he would come stand protectively next to me making sure I had my balance and wits about me,,, God I miss that dog… I pray Hazel will turn out like him in that respect… but if she doesn’t, that’s ok too… she will still be a great companion to have… I’ve already fallen head over heels for this little one…

Hello from Spain big fan here of your channel,. Here in the north part of Spain in Asturias the spring and July has been streamly wet, and this year just started my groove and all my tomatoes plant were rotten because they were affected by a funghus (mildiu) now I fail and learn the lesson XD, and replanted new tomatoes. I don´t know much about permaculture but I´ve been reading and wachtin lots of you tube ( I can recomend you this channels Epic garden, Huw Richards and Grow Veg). But if you don´t mind I think I can give you couple tips that you might want to try: I saw you pulling the brocolli plant out, and I read is better just to cut the plant from the bottom and leave the roots there, like that in theory you don´t disturb al the micrological life around this roots that can be beneficial for future crops. The other is regarding crop combination, I not sure if you are doing it and you might but for example the corn combines very good with beans and pumpkins or zuchinis so you can intercalete them. This is because beans add nitrogen to the soil and corn needs a lot of nitrogen so is beneficial for both crops. Sorry for this long comment, and I honestly I don´t know much but the little things I starting to learn I want to share with you. Please keep on the good job

It’s all good my friend, we are in fact always learning. We did the corn with snow peas and spaghetti squash interlaced. Melons and pumpkins are just beside. I’ve always pulled out all the veggie roots cause after a few years there will be too many clumps of roots in the beds. I’ll try some and what the difference is.

I dunno, she’s got a catio, a fantastic clubhouse, a family that loves her…I think she’s fine. If she was living in our house she’d be alone all the time and if she was working the farm she may not come back & be in peril all the time 😉

I wonder if you tried solarization of the weeds around the pond and the other spots if that would be something that could help. It's hoop house tarps are placed over top of the weeds and held down with bricks or any sort of weight in order to choke them out.

How do you keep the artificial pond clean? Is that well water or is there a natural stream? If it's from your well, aren't you afraid the well will go dry?

Having been an unusually hot summer, could the potato roots have gotten too hot in the plastic bins? Potatoes like cooler weather to develop. Just a thought.
@HiddenSpringFarm3 ай бұрын
Not exactly sure but yes most likely too wet and too hot made the plant die off before the taters had a chance to grow.
