As a Christian this is really cool to me. The promotional slogan for Halo 3 was "Believe". And in the bible the passages John 1:1-7 says as follows 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might (*Believe*) Seeing as Bungies favorite number is 7 and Gods number is 7 and Halo 3s promotional word was "Believe" and as you can see the final word from John 1:1-7 is BELIEVE... Halo 4 would have been good but doomed to failure with all the changes they made and separating from the og trilogy and creator's. This also works very well with greek mythology too. The precursors are the titans, murdered by the forerunners, "gods", who then had children with men called demigods that also took on titans and gods. Chief and the spartans, (Spartans being greek) being demigods makes sense, and puts forunners, who especially after 4, (and by a pseudo extent the covenant) are his enemies. And of course, the forerunners left behind the prometheans, which also ties into greek mythos quite obviously. Cortana could also be compared to a muse, and johns voyages to destroy the covenant could at least loosely compare to the odyssey and odysius, maybe or Hercules. Also, in greek myth, zues is the god of thunder and odysius' father. Chief wears mjiolir armor, which references thors hammer, who is also the god of thunder. Somewhat indirect, but indicative of chiefs significance since odysius defeats some of the gods. Lots of connections if you look hard enough.

Beginning of Halo 3. Master Chief is presumed dead, but gets up in an unexplained manner (at least not in the game). Halo 4. Master Chief should have been composed, but wasn't because he is fully man, but also something else. Halo: Infinite. Master Chief is presumed KIA and missing, until not. A savior that keeps coming back from the dead.

The ancient Spartans were known for saying few words, in contrast to the Athenians who had a reputation for bending the truth with their excessive rhetoric (hence their invention of sophism). This explains Bungie’s decision to make Chief and the Spartan 2s so terse and aloof with non-Spartans

I grew up Catholic, and Halo was my favorite franchise and seeing all the religious symbolism in the game just made it better. It gave everything in the game a whole different context to look through. I also love Wendigoon, so this collab video is perfect for this topic. Also you totally should do a video about ODST and it's connections to Dante's Inferno. I can't believe I somehow hadn't picked up on that obvious connection despite having read it and ODST being one of my favorites in the series.

The covenant successors (except for the banished imo) could be a reference to the protestant reformation and the branches that formed off of it. I.e: Anglicanism, calvinism, lutheranism, presbytarianism, etc.

LUC I was doing some wondering about the flood Back when Bungie planned on Forerunners being ancient humans, what would their first encounter with the flood have looked like? And when exactly? This was obviously before the precursors were a concept and before the expanded lore of the Forerunners as we know under 343 But I was thinking, Ancient humanity (forerunners) developed enough to have galaxy spanning mega structures, so in their exploration of the stars did they just happen to stumble upon the floods home world? Anyways I thought it was an interesting question

In my head canon, the flood never had a home world within the physical. Consider how the precursors died, their spirits have went into the spiritual, which these precursors have more than likely cursed the universe all because of the Forerunners, damning every being to a flood invasion. We do know that the Halo arrays are within our galaxy, The Milky Way, but what if the Forerunners reached further? What of those tribes of Forerunners? Would humanity ever reach to colonise every habitable planet in Milky Way, just to expand further? What wouldd haappen if they DO find evidence of Forerunners living OUTSIDE of the Milky Way? These questions arise because of the importance of the weapons. Has the flood reached outside of the Milky Way? Or were there patches around the universe where the flood started popping up and other Human-like creatures are facing similar struggles? Those are the questions that pop in my head the more I know of the Halo universe, as well as being the oly questions in my head once I'm deep in the lore.

The Ark is interpreted differently in two major a different ways The Ark, safety from the flood The Ark of the Covenant, the covenant wants to use the Ark and it will bring great harm for use of it. I feel like it makes a lot of sense for the ark to be both even if it's mostly seen as a safe place from the flood

One thing I wanna point out on the segment about the Great Schism. Some Elites (specifically Jul Mdama’s Covenant) *did* great their own religion. Hate to say it, but Wendigoon was only partially correct about what a covenant is. We have archeological evidence that proves covenants were legal contracts signed by two people either or equal status or higher/lower status (think a high king and one of his vassals) that set about a code of conduct between the two parties. Ie. I will protect your people if you pay me taxes or we will always have each other's backs, etc. The Covent God made with Abraham promised him that his lineage would be like the stars in heaven or the sand on the earth. It's implied he also made different covenants with Moses, Adam, Noah, and David, and finally, we received a new one through Jesus Christ. For more information on this topic, I would highly suggest the book 'The Epic of Eden' for an entire chapter or two dedicated to the word
