Hey Gregor! You’re actually not wrong 😊. There is a Kansas City in Kansas, which is a much smaller city than the “big” Kansas City which is in Missouri! I bet there are many Americans who don’t know that either 😊. So you’re good 👍🏻. Fröliche Weinachten! 🎄🎄🎄

As a guitarist of nearly 35 years and a bassist for 15 of those, I must say…for me, jamming with bassists like this guy is and always has been an absolute pleasure and a thrill. So many bassists stubbornly subscribe to the idea that the bass guitar has this well-defined role from which there should be little to no deviation or experimentation. Which, to a “musical explorer” like myself, someone who is endlessly seeking fresh ideas and new ways of expressing them, sounds a bit like the musician’s idea of Hell.

Well said! It’s rare to witness such creativity and sophistication in the same package. It does everything you want a bass to do with bonuses.

I'll take a bass player over another guitarist any day. Most, contrary to memes, are fairly thoughtful, insightful dudes. Yeah dudes..not a lot of chicks play bass. Hats off to Tina! Best bass player I remember from band in longest was a freaking rocket scientist and "crafted" his sound..and it showed. Don't know if "never change their strings" is real but it IS funny :). Best Regards and Best Wishes for 2023!
@stayelusive
@stayelusive Жыл бұрын
people who subscribe to that idea are just guitar players posing as bassists, they want the bass to be simple and to just back their guitar riffs
@methyod
@methyod Жыл бұрын
@@blessedheavyelements8544 "never change the strings" is absolutely real, in theory, if you play flats. they take at least a few months to even start sounding right. you just take em off and clean em once in a while. i break a low e once every few years though so i've never had a chance to really find out how long they can go for.
@methyod
@methyod Жыл бұрын
@@stayelusive it's not like that, dude. i play in a country rock band, and my rig is just an always on compressor into a lightly driven solid state amp. i absolutely have a clearly defined roll from which there is little deviation, as does everyone else in the band. i play root five most of the time, walk it once in a while, have fun with a couple of fills when appropriate, get creative with syncopation on the jams. we have a rhythm guitarist who's entire job is to bang out root position cowboy chords on an acoustic, and he's got a big ol grin on his face the whole time he's doing it. it's just the kind of music that we like playing, and we have a ton of fun with it. if i broke out a big pedalboard and started doing ambient bass chords in the middle of a blown out waylon cover, it wouldn't be fun for anyone. does all that make me a wannabe? i've been playing bass since i was a kid, i've been the big pedalboard guy, i've played in rock and funk/rnb and emo and metal and punk and hip hop bands, and here is hard won wisdom it took me years to admit: sometimes, the best thing to do on bass is keep it simple and support the lead instruments.

Fun fact: Kansas City, MO actually predates the state of Kansas by a few decades. They’re both named after the Kansas River. And to make things even more confusing, the names Kansas and Arkansas aren’t related at all. Kansas comes from the river that’s named after the Kanza tribe, while Arkansas comes from the French spelling of an Algonquin word for a completely different tribe

I don't play in the high register much. But comments like this are so stupid. Playing In a higher register shows off this pedals sound a bit more. Besides that why does playing high automatically mean you need to go learn to play guitar? How about you learn your instrument across the entire fretboard. Makes no sense.
