Hiding thread ends when you are finished the tatting.

This is how I hide my ends when I have finished my piece of tatting.

Hello Dorreen. While the magic thread may work for you it can distort the tatting and requires you to tatt over another thread while you work. A lot of people have great trouble with remembering to place the extra threads, getting them to pull through smoothly or them breaking while pulling. This method doesn't require planning and placing extra threads and once you learn it can be used with very fine threads.

While this video clearly explains and demonstrates this method, there is another, faster method which also will hide the ends and doesn't require any sewing. That means that there is no chance the threads will be split. The other method is called the "Magic Thread" method and is also in a KZbin video offered by Tatted Treasures. Either method will look just as lovely, but sometimes it is nice to have an alternative, so I thought I would mention it.

They are braces not thimbles. I got them through my occupational therapist.

@@suedzine I hope they are helping, thank you for clarifying. My shuttle slips out of my grip from time to time, was thinking this might be a fix. Do you have any suggestions for this? Thank you in advance.

@@gramaah my hands are much better these days and I don’t need the braces much. You could try using bigger shuttles or put some texture on yours so you don’t drop them as much. Nail polish in dots is easy to do on the shuttle.

Hi Sue they are braces to stop my thumbs bending backwards. For a long time I couldn’t tat without them but now I’m fine. They were recommended by an osteopath.

Anita Humphries they are braces I got from the occupational therapist. I have to use them when I do fine work as my thumbs don’t work well holding small things.
