The first Hidizs AP80 was my very first DAP...and it still shines...tthey have such a lovely natural soundtuning which makes different microdetails in songs so lovely prominent that i prefered it for some songs over iBasso DX160 and Shanling M3X. Its tricky to use the small display with big fingers but it really has professional features for soundtuning like Hiby's MSEB and soundfield adjustments. I dont need that but its really great to try it out. I bought the AP80 Pro and love it too when i go jogging or hiking. I also use the FM Radio in it which unfortunatley is removed in the 80 Pro X Version so i skipped this one..:-)... But the off the box soundtuning is really great for my taste and increddible for such a small device. I use it with Penon Fan Earphones and its Magic. I just whish Hidizs would do also greater DAPS with more power with this sound tuning.

As your unit has lasted for quite along time, it might be another indication to the audio companies that they should extend their warranties; usually only one year 🤷‍♂

@@frederf69 Yes...i really must say the Hidizs AP80 devices are really robust and i didnt noticed any lags or errors yet...the old AP80 is still running same way like as new..also the battery is still not showing problems My experience wth daps is that most of the problems are always with battery.

@@frederf69 My advice...check in internet if there is a instruction showing how to dissasemble and exchange the battery..i know that iBasso Daps like dx240 can get easy dissassembled and you can order batteries online (i have 2 extra batteries) and exchange by yourself...not at all daps are capable but if i spend big money for a dap i always research before i buy. I already had issues with batteries in mobile phones and daps..especially if u charge it with different adapters they are very sensitive..

I mostly use the ap80prox as a bluetooth receiver, and the bidirectional Bluetooth feature is probably one of my favorite functions.

Me, too - but unfortunately one major bluetooth flaw of this device isn`t mentioned often: If you use the AP80 (Pro X) as a bluetooth receiver with Apple devices (iPhone, Mac or iPad), when it connects automatically, it will use the low quality SBC codec by default. You have to disconnect and connect the device two or three times until it finally uses AAC. Every time you use it! If you use an Apple device, too, please check it out! It has been mentioned by many people on Headfi and I have written to the Hidisz about it several times - they just refuse to admit and repair this software bug. Generally, the Hidisz customer support is really bad when it comes to problems with their devices. This is such a pity because in deed they build beautiful and practical devices...

@@hanesbeef4429 Bluetooth on iPhones is very poor in quality regardless, I don't tink it is hidizs fault, it is something I noticed with most iphones and bluetooth DAC/AMPs, it always has this issue where bluetooth on ios won't work properly

​@@AudiophileHeaven Thank you for your reply and sorry to respectfully disagree! This particular problem is a firmware bug that ONLY happens with the AP80 series. If you don`t believe me, please try it out by yourself: As comparison use any BT device like the BTR7, UP5 or bidirectional DAPs like the R3 Pro. First connect those devices as BT receiver to an iPhone! ALL of them will work flawlessly and use AAC as output codec (shown on their displays), since this is the regular default output for Apple devices! ONLY with (any) AP80 (Pro X) devices the following will happen: After you connected it to an iPhone once, it will remember the device - and when switching on the AP80 (Pro X) the next time, it will auto connect to the iPhone via BT. So far, so good. But now play a song and watch the diplay of the AP80 (Pro X): It will use lower quality "SBC" as BT codec! You have to disconnect and reconnect the iPhone several times until it finally shows "AAC" - every time! I have tried that with several iPhones and AP80s - and it`s always the same! Also, other users on Headfi reported the same! It never ever happens with any other BT device (like the ones named above). It`s very clearly a firmware bug produced by HIdisz! If you write, it happens with other devices, too, can you please give a concrete example? I suspect you have had other BT problems, but not particularly this one? Cheers!

Just wanted to let people know about the company's repair policy since it may affect people's decision to buy this. My DAP broke after four months of use. First, the company wanted me to pay to have the item shipped to China. They did not give me a company address, instead they gave me the address of some guy in China. When sending the package, the company wanted me to mark the package as "personal/gift". They never could explain why I needed to do this since I was making an official return of a defective product. They also stated I could only claim a value of $45 for the package even though the player cost me $245. They claimed this was to avoid tariffs but they couldn't explain why I would need to pay tariffs since no money was changing hands-I was just returning a defective product. The final issue was when they stated they would mail the item back to me but if it got lost then too bad, they weren't responsible and wouldn't compensate me for the lost player. If I had known about this strange repair policy, I would never have bought the product. I definitely won't be buying anything from them again.

This is the standard with packages sent from and to China, had to go through this before, it is because they don't have an offshores represenbtative. I am not saying it is good, but you generally get back your product just fine, and they usually ship new products back.

Guys, has anyone used the file deletion function? It doesn’t work for me((That is, it seems to visually delete it, but when you reboot, all these files remain in place. How to treat this? Or is it just defective for me...

It is between this and Shanling M1S, the Aoshida exclusive. This one is more neutral, has a bit more detail, sounds more natural, M1S is warmer in sound, more euphonic, both are great, but you have to go with the one that also looks better to you and based on wiehter you want a warmer or a more neutral sound

yeah, MQA seems to be close to a scam - and compressing (supposedly) high res music lossless (which apparently it isn't) isn't really necessary anymore, anyways. I stick to redbook.

Thank you, and indeed MQA is gone now, but I still mention it where it appears, will try to avoid it in future videos! I think that M1S is stronger, warmer in tuning, wider, but less deep, shallower
