Hi guys , I'm just getting back into vinyl and investing in home theatre , I'm not wealth and I have the downside of being hearing impared in one ear ( Military damage) , through watching your reviews I've invested in Denon kit. IE turntable , two channel Amp, and CD player running through Eltax 180 towers , her indoors has just purchased the x 3800 as my Christmas present , can't wait to set it up and thanks for your valuable experience take care both .garry ,Liverpool uk.

You said something so true during this segment. “The audiences are becoming unbearable for me.” “No one knows how to go and watch a show anymore.” “General group etiquette--I don’t know where it went.” “…and why I largely stay away from movie theaters.” I too gave up on practically anything live anymore. Between people who cannot shut up, cellphones, Apple watches, movie theaters are now a thing of the past for me. As much as I like an Imax or Dolby Cinema I choose to stay home. I would rather watch my movies on the 83” TV Caleb suggested and listen to the sound on the Onkyo receiver you suggested.

Took my daughter and girl friend to see a morning showing of Oppenheimer. Tickets were $66 and another $50 for food drinks. We went to an IPIC theater, which was a nice experience but $120 to see a movie is insane. The value is gone for me.

@@zachcheroff7970 Yeah, tix at my two local theaters are now up to around $15 which I think is pretty crazy. It's hardly a cheap thing to do these days and I would rather see a movie in my HT anyway with it's 75" screen, dual 10" Atlantic tech subs, Emotiva C1+ CC, and Aura LSW-828M main speakers. I'm looking to get the Wharfedale EVO 4.2's to take over the LR duties and throw a set of old Aura LSB-527M bookshelves into the system for rear surrounds as 5.1 is good enough for me.

KZbin channels like this have lead me to build the craziest music setup that I've ever had. I'm a lifelong car audio guy and I've had some nice gear over the years...but I think I went overboard in the house. Speaking of....the Arendal 1723 THX floor standing speakers are amazing. So glad I was able to snag myself a pair of those bad boys. They pair up real nice w/ the Emotiva XPA-TWO. ...and I probably wouldn't have known about Arendal if not for youtube reviewers. Now, if my phono preamp & linear power supply for said preamp would just show up...I'll be finished. .....for now... EDIT: Anyone out there who may see this. If you're kicking around the idea of getting into hifi & you're looking at turntables....just go ahead & buy the nicest turntable that you can afford right off the bat. If you buy an entry level table, you'll end up buying a bunch of stuff trying to make it sound like the $1,500 turntable that you should have bought to begin with. For example. I wanted a Marantz TT-15s1, but I am new to vinyl & didn't even know how to use a turntable....so I ended up buying a Fluance RT82 instead. It's 1/5 the price of the Marantz...but at this point I've bought SO MUCH STUFF for that Fluance. I've got over $1,500 in it all said. ...and while my Fluance does perform fantastic now, it's still a Fluance RT82 underneath it all. If I had purchased the Marantz TT-15s1 to begin with, I'd be waiting on a $1,000 vacuum tube phono preamp & linear power supply right now...and I'd be enjoying extremely high performance WITHOUT having to purchase upgrades to the tune of 4x the turntable's MSRP....

Have a B&O theater, 28’s, 19, and just added a set of new Beolab 8’s for surround. Utterly blown away by the sound, precision, and tech. The bass is off the charts too. When will Bang and Olufsen get the respect they deserve and what’s your opinion when compared to traditional separates.

Guys, you know you're doing well when the haters become vehement. Try virtuoso bassist, Victor Wooten's album called; A Show of Hands. I've utilised it many a time at hifi shows in both London and Bristol in England and every time I've played it, it has wowed both manufacturers and show-goers alike, to the point of them either streaming it or obtaining a copy on CD/Vinyl and used as reference material. It's sound is top tier and the musicianship of Victor, himself, defies belief! An absolute must-have in your music collection. Keep up the good work and remember, the more they hate, the better you're doing. Ciao.

Etiquette seems to have gone down the tubes in some cases. I’m in the 70+ age group and I still find those folks usually know how to behave; although they probably didn’t 50 years ago😂 One of the last concerts I went to was Herb Alpert and Lani Hall and I wold really be surprised if those in attendance didn’t know how to behave. I don’t go to the movie theater any more.🤔

Hi, Andrew and Kristi. Thank you for your take on my comment during the live stream, but unfortunately, I wasn’t aware that pressing “enter” during a live stream would send the message instead of creating a paragraph, which made my comment way incomplete. What I meant to say is that there’s usually our first impressions (which can be great or not so great), and then there’s the others ones when you actually “live” with it. I believe that you don’t make product reviews by listening to a product during 20 minutes or so, and that you can find things that you like and don’t like after those initial impressions (this goes both ways, of course). When you listen to a demo and fall in love for the detail in the presentation (or any other feature), it can be hard to tell if on a prolonged listening it can be too much, of some of your favorite music actually becomes harsh, or less involving. This has _nothing_ to do with price, although higher end products usually have a lot of other things going for it (including the ones we _see_, and finish is supposed to be top notch and has a role on how we perceive it sound wise), and if the buyer later finds out that he/she wants to replace one component, the depreciation will be a lot harder, since the market for used products on that price range has a lot less potential buyers. I dominated have a problem with the price of anything, since ultimately, everything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it (no matter if we’re talking about HiFi or classic cars). 🙂 When I used the word “judge”, I meant it in the sense of evaluating if it works for “you” on the long term, not judging in the sense that you interpreted (it’s easy to get it wrong if I inadvertently sent less than half of my message 😁). I’m a huge fan of your channel (I don’t watch TV series, but I do watch your videos and live streams), and I definitely wasn’t criticizing anything. I’ve been in the audio business for assome decades now, and during many of those years, I had to make a lot of demos (and also listened to many more), including 1 million euro systems. The more expensive ones were usually the ones that failed to impress me, maybe because I was expecting “perfection” (which is always unreasonable), and I’d say that the most impressive ones would probably be in the tens of thousands (not hundreds). It’s fair to notice that a million dollar system would likely be big, and usually requires a big room with tailored acoustics to make it shine, and all of that becomes a bit harder to accomplish. On the other hand, I have several audio systems in my relatively small house, because all of them do things differently, and shine at different aspects (or recordings), which makes sense considering how much different sound characteristics and gear every mastering studio has). 😉 Some days (or even hours of the day 😀) I might prefer one sound signature over the other, and I believe that’s just human nature and how our brain works on perceiving what’s around us). 😉 In the end, it’s always about what works best for every individual person, and in a sense, I feel that being exposed to great audio equipment (and appreciating their differences) as an amazing side (that’s why we take it as a hobby), but also a bad one. Some people can buy an audio system and enjoy it for the rest of their lives without ever looking back, feeling that music can’t sound any better than that. While that’s the ultimate goal (as a concept) for any audiophile, it’s also the one that’s harder to achieve. Just like any car enthusiast (which I’m also), there’s usually something newer or different that feels like an improvement, turning that goal into a moving target. 😂 You said several times that the B&O loudspeaker would be your end game if you could allocate that kind of money on it. Knowing what you know about yourself and your history with audio, do you really believe that you could settle with those B&O speakers and never thing about replacing them, or having more audio systems? 😀 If that was a bet, I wouldn’t put my money on it, because I feel that you also appreciate listening the same music through different perspectives, and that’s what different audio equipment does. 😉 I don’t believe that upgrading can only be done by buying more expensive gear. Sometimes I feel that doing the opposite is actually better, and there’s no such thing as a perfect sound (and specially loudspeakers). All of them have their unique characteristics, and play inside rooms that also have their own sound signatures, just like two cars can be both great and not so great at different things (any 911 is terrible at off-road 🙂, and sometimes you might want to leave the tarmac). That’s part of the moving target, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Keep up the great work.

DBX a company evolved from the studio world, @1976 -1989, they were most well known for compression expanders used in place of Dolby b , for noise reduction in cassettes, and in some cases noisy Vynyl.they also made components to restore lost dynamic range in poorly engineered recordings. They later branched out to other product lines, and were never fully accepted by the college dorm JBL 100,Marantz , Technics crowd. I believe everything was done in the analog world with its limitations, and time alignment problems. Don’t know if they are still around.

Subjective reviews ... of COURSE it's subjective content - we are asking you your personal opinions on products in your space, with your taste! e.g SSCS5 vs XL8s. I bought both ... liked the Sonys, but 100% prefer the Fluances. As a result, I trust your assessments a bit more, while still enjoying other's opinions. As always, lots of fun to listen to you. Just a thought, for any products that you use and would recommend, that you just don’t end up reviewing (for valid reasons you’ve stated) why not make a “non-review” roundup video of a number of those things (e.g. turntables, subwoofers, etc). That type of a vid may be more popular than a single product review with limited reach/appeal.

All your points about Texas are true however, just to play devils advocate... The politics in California are crazy, the roads in California stink. The infrastructure is just as bad: when it gets too warm The power goes out .There are fires that burn till the skies are brown, so it still appears to me that Texas is a lot less expensive than California. And if you could explain to me how we have but 10% of the countries population, but close to 50% of the countries, homeless I would welcome that conversation Granted property taxes are higher. But California has some of the highest sales, tax, income, tax of all states… and don’t get me even started on the gas prices in the prices of restaurants not even close
