HiFi on LoDough? Phinistec S7 HiRes MP3 Player Review

I like as well - too bad to buy the older/orig ones costs too much now. However, I do still have my Samsung Uproar mobile phone (first mob for me) which was the first (or one of the first cells) which played MP3's. Also have my first iriver mp3 player which did recording/ripping as well.

Also comes with 2 screen protectors. But no silicon case is made for this device.

The power/output spec is very impressive, and the build looks really nice. Currently unavailable, though. :(

A very interesting device. For sure. But with this kind of player I need to still have acces to streaming services (Deezer, Tidal, Spotify, KZbin music etc....). What a shame ! Despite this it's seems to be a good device.

Ruizu makes cheap android players that give you all that, they are actually pretty good

Can you find out with your contact at Phinistec if the LDAC is limited to 330kbps like Android phones are?

Based on your outstanding review of the S7, I just bought one. In your review, you indicated that you are open to questions via email contact. Due to the poor Manual and lack of attention to how to use the player, I hope that you are open to some questions so I can understand how to get a Playlist to play, what steps do I take to select a piece, get it to play, unselect the same piece, and setup to play another one. Simple questions for a user, but not a beginner. Will you help or will I just return the unit because I do not know how to use it.

Listen to P7 at least 15 hours..It is a excellent high resolution sound overall. Ess dual dac so sharp sounding. Tried many iems balanced and unbalanced. It has a few kinks in software, but no dap is perfect in software. For the price and hardware specs and actual sound this is a steal! I bought 3 on black friday and will be keeping all 3. Hopefully they come with a firmware update. Also please add scroll function or abc scroll function to playlist. I have a couple playlist with 1000 songs. Also firmware update has to be done off microsd? 2 computers do not see the device.

As one of the dozens of people in the world who still prefers dedicated media players, imagine how hard it is to _also_ be the kind who prefers physical buttons a million times over all the touchscreen crap that's common now. There's almost no devices left with the majority of the functionality available via physical buttons so you can use it blind in your pocket without taking it out for every single damn feature. In case of some *really* badly designed players, _even the volume control_ is touch-only ... makes you wonder how braindead one needs to be to design something as dumb as that. That said this device is at least kinda sorta half-interesting. It's yet another boring neutered android device with a skin on it (by the looks of it, and OTG support), and as usual the majority of controls are touch-based (so i might as well just use a phone), but hey at least it has basic transport controls on the side so it's one step above the "complete junk" catergory... I guess? 🤷‍♂ [insert simpsons "old man yelling at clouds" gif here]

I also think the same. That's why I want to get a Sony NW A25 or a NW ZX100. Unfortunately they are kinda hard to find. I think they don't sell players with buttons because people perceive them as being old and arcaic,which is a shame

Does the manual indicate if a warranty of any kind is included?

The manual mentions a warranty on the last page but only says what's not covered and doesn't say how long it's valid for. Couldn't find more info on their site so I'll shoot them an email and post here when I hear back from them.

Can you find out how to get over the 1400 song limitation? Seems dumb if it can use 512 GB MicroSD cards...

There must be something wrong on your end, I currently have nearly 8000 tracks on my card and they all play flawlessly

Maybe... do you know what format does your card have? Mine is FAT32 but I read somewhere that it's supposed to be something else, like exFAT for these Chinese products.

I think mine is exfat, I've used it with my phone and other mp3 players before. I dont think that'd be the issue though. I wonder if there's a corrupted song or id3 tag that interrupts the track scanning.

LDAC gives you 24bit-96khz ya that's lossless, don't use mp3, use flac and dsd. A 64gb sd card is nothing for a flac and dsd library. I have 2tb in my proper high end machine. This is the bare bones entry level for that sort of thing.

U shaped sound stage, odd sound stage. No middle, left and right sound stage so wide apart, no middle and on your ears. Would have been better to have left and right Soundstage more in front instead of sides.
