Little white young girl growing up in Philly I didn't have much. My family did not believe in spending money for music. I was VERY lucky to get a walk man but with no tapes to play lol. When this song came out I scrounged around for the last dollar, saving up change I found around the house so I could buy the single of this song and I hadn't done that with any of my favorite songs. This song really got me in the feels. I played it all the time dreaming of my first love. It's crazy now to hear the background story of Hi Five and how sad it was. Geez man

Listen and enjoy because you'll never hear anything this good from these bullshit artists out today. There's no such thing as a group anymore, it's just a bunch of commercialized solo artists. RIP Tony Thompson.

Girl, when I first met you I didn't realize You were looking to stay around But I was looking to play around Now I can't forget you Can't forget your pretty smile Took for granted the love you gave And only thought of the love we made Just when I found someone who could love me Like the way that I need I acted a fool and pushed her away from me And I'll be thinking 'bout you every night and every day 'Cause in my heart I'll know that I never should have let you go And my love for you is stronger than I ever knew But I couldn't tell you so that I never should have let you go Do you think about me like I wasn't worth your time I would give anything I have If you give me another chance Do you think you're better off without me Playing games with your heart and mind, oh yeah I don't blame you for leaving me But now you gotta believe in me If you come back, girl, I promise That you'll see a change in my ways I'll get down on my knees I'll do anything you say Is there someone else standing where I stood Giving you the love you never got from me Girl, I would give you the world if I only could Girl, you will see Will you come back to me Won't you come back to me And I'll be thinking 'bout you every night and every day 'Cause in my heart I'll know that I never should have let you go And my love for you is stronger than I ever knew But I couldn't tell you so that I never should have let you go Do you think about me like I wasn't worth your time I would give anything I have If you give me another chance Do you think you're better off without me Playing games with your heart and mind, oh yeah I don't blame you for leaving me But now you gotta believe in me If you come back, girl, I promise That you'll see a change in my ways I'll get down on my knees I'll do anything you say And I'll be thinking 'bout you every night and every day 'Cause in my heart I'll know that I never should have let you go And my love for you is stronger than I ever knew But I couldn't tell you so No, I never should have let No, I never should have let No, I never should have let you go Oh...

Sadly, they only put out three EPs over four years (1989-1990). And between the older groups and the artists with better contracts, people knew their music but didn’t really know the group. You’re absolutely right that they should’ve been better known tho.

Tornado1994 It's hard to say whether or not he would be here. But according to the Unsung episode, Tony had mended things with the other Hi-Five members and they was planning on getting back together. I think his drug problem would have still been there unless he would have had a wake up call or came close to dying like he did but didn't die and got help he needed.
