High Alert! Pipe-Busting Cold Coming & Tropical Update!

Plumber here. Be sure to disconnect your hoses from the hosebibs and make sure your crawl space vents are closed if you have them. Leaving your water on a trickle will help too. A lot of the times it’s the cold wind that will freeze the pipes and not the temperature itself. If you find yourself in an emergency where you have no power for long periods of time with no heat I would advise to shut off your water main and open up all your faucets and hosebibs outside to drain out as much water as possible. Also shut off the water heater if it’s electric. This will prevent as many pipes from bursting as possible and the water can always be cut back on to use as you need it.

Congrats on finding a home Mark I'm still looking here in Texas been 2 years straight my problem is I can't work hubby gets SsDI I get spousal support but changed last year to social security when I turned 65 my income fell cause I have to pay 175.00 for Medicare so we don't make enough money for these rentals, please pray for me I live in very old house that's gonna fall apart before ppl pay to fix it , but thanking God you found somewhere to go enjoy an thank you for your updates

I live in Minnesota. Cold at this time of year is normal. In fact, we welcome it as many here enjoy cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, skating, and many other outdoor activities.

All you southerners that put water in your antifreeze/coolant. Make sure you flush and put in normal antifreeze coolant. I see way too many people with their engines over heating because their fluid is frozen.

It's Man made Weather and I agree with you, l have lived on the Texas Coast for 65 years and just ONCE back on Oct.15th , 1989 we had a late Hurricane Jerry, One time in 65 years , but never ever Tropical Storms or Hurricanes in the Gulf this time of year and he knows that , yet they keep popping up and now a possible Christmas Tropical Storm , so now we have Year long never ending Tropical Storms , really and Mark say's Oh Well stuff happens , yes if someone is creating these Storms they happen it's called Weather Warfare , but Damn sure are not Nature made , NO WAY !
