Couldn’t agree more to doing both; if I just train high bar, my mobility improves but it’s rough to keep increasing the weight and, over a few months of consistency, my knees start to get a little more tender. With low bar, I can increase the weight each session with virtually zero issues, but over the longer period, my mobility slightly diminishes. Doing both, I get the best of both worlds. I also program in front squats on occasion but I do this more to improve thoracic extension and to help prevent overuse injuries. Great video 👍

@mossoconnor44174 жыл бұрын
Woolite Mammoth I think it depends on the person and how you leg press, I leg press with my feet high and wide and when my low bar is dialed in and feeling strong when I do reps it definitively feels I bit like a leg press. I don’t completely lock out every rep if I’m doing reps of 8+ unless it’s a very heavy Mac effort set, and if you do three reps on one breath it can definatet feel like a leg press
@frostyshark63174 жыл бұрын
If you are a high bar squatter and attempt low bar for the first time or trying to introduce it, I understand why he mentioned it feeling like a leg press. Don't try and say a high bar and low bar should feel the same, they don't at all. No need to nitpick either, the advice is solid.

I grew up only doing low bar squats. Nothing I see that everybody does when they do high bar squats, the average person seems to do way too much and their acceleration out of the holethey drive with their hips first let their upper body lean forward and then the bar goes off of plane. And they finish the move by straightening out their back. I'm 62 trying to get back in shape. I'd be interested in seeing more videos on how to train as you get older needing for strength and muscle joint longevity with the additional time needed for recovery. that's the hardest thing I seem to find now is how long it takes to recover after a good workout. And at the same time I then feel like I'm losing some of my because of the time it does take to recover. Thanks again really enjoy your channel.
@ms-we1ku4 жыл бұрын
That's not a low bar squat. That's a squat in with the bar in the low position with high bar mechanics. The value of the lowbar squat over the highbar is that it invovles the hamstrings, hips and lowback more, as well as reducing the moment arm on the knees in favor of the hips. The hips need to move back so the back angle can be increased, and as a result the knees can stay back. Ryans knees and hips are too forward, and he isn't bending over enough.
