RIP Dr John McDougall, 6/22/2024, age 77. A good man, a true humanitarian.

It's refreshing to listen to such a principled man who only wants everyone to be as healthy as possible. I have already dropped my cholesterol by over 100 points after only a few months of following Dr McDougall's eating plan.

The no oil part has been a great change and when I vetted the science (thank you for always having references) I got rid of all oil in one go and never looked back. Solid research and I am so glad you share this information with people and make it available to all levels science backgrounds.

What did you watch where they specifically talk about oil? I’m really having a struggle with the oil and need some help. I’d greatly appreciate any help

Hear hear, makes me think back of the great minds i have shared the earth with and only found out about after their deaths (Richard Feynman for instance). I feel so fortunate to still have dr. mc Dougall with us.

If we only knew about John harvey Kellogg and the other plant based Drs. Of the 1800 who used no medication but fully educated the people of their problems. Salt is actually needed in small amounts according to our creator God. We have been stolen from ,our diets changed. We need to recognize the bible as the greatest health book ever given to man. Many don't realize that God in His wisdom created us and our diets, to keep us healthy. But sin came in so modifications had to be made. We now eat the animals food, potatoes, cabbage, carrots ect ( my pug loved this foods) 🤔🤔🤔think this thru pray God will show you what to do.

I have to admit I've been on again, off again with this diet. I'm really trying this time. 4 days in and the thing I notice the most is the spring in my step while walking. I've got Type 2 diabetes, and the realization that this is a METABOLIC disease and not a SUGAR disease is so key to understanding.

I have a goiter, diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at 19 during pregnancy. I supplement with iodine and take thyroid meds for the past 30 plus years. I don’t use table salt. I agree with most of what the good doctor says and love him to pieces, but we need some type of iodine in the form of seaweed or other iodine sources ❤😊

I just wanted to give some info in case anyone is curious. Dr David Brownstein, Dr Jorge Flechas, and Don Bennett who is a long time raw vegan. They all have great info that you can find in books or videos here on KZbin. Just for the record, Dr McDougall is the best and I recommend his videos and diet to everyone 🎉 I am a starch solution follower and wouldn’t eat any other way!!!

Me too...but I found so called healthy fats are just as harmful. I have imaging that shows I developed atherosclerosis during the time I ate a good handful of nuts every day. And later imaging that shows that after two years of no overt fats some of it regressed....but it took no fat...no almond milk or soy milk...no avocado...no nuts or seeds.

I did the HCLF for 5 years, ZERO oil, ZERO salt, ZERO sugar~ {A lot longer than 4 months lol} I gained 65 pounds, my blood pressure was over the top and I was doing terrible! I LOVE Dr Mac and his wife Mary, I have met them and find them lovely people! BUT this does not work for everyone! My blood pressure is now average 120/70 for the first time in 30 years! My bloodwork is perfect!! And it took going low carb, low fat, medium protein for the fast 4 years! But I've lost 130 pounds and easily keep it off! I use Miso mostly for salty things, I use Stevia for sweetener, and mostly avos and olives for my fats with a light amount of avo oil occasionally!. Life is better for sure.Still love me some Dr Mac though, love his passion!

Depends what carbs you were eating, I eat alot of corn, beans, potatoes, lentils, and I'm fit, eat 2xs per day, exercise 5 days a wk, but was still thin even before exercising. The moment I gobbled up a ton of bread and cookies, my face swelled up, I did my gene/DNA test which proved I cannot tolerate the gluten in bread, in fact I showed markers my genes cannot even process it. This has to do with my native mesoamerican genes which has been used to corn, beans that Dr. McDougal talks about, which is eating what your ancestors did and the wheat from the middle east is not what my genes were trained to process. Perhaps, it's not the carbs in general that is your problem in loosing weight, but specifically wheat, for example, as in my case bc it comes from a different region in the world, something my ancestors and their DNA never consumed before the discovery of the Americas. A DNA test can help you pinpoint which carb you can be allergic to or simply not able to process, but to think all carbs or carbs in general did you wrong is really not the answer, it could just be wheat or perhaps cookies, or whatever snack you consumed with wheat that made it difficult for you to loose weight. I rarely consume it and feel better now. My waist is 26-27", I weigh around 124lbs, I eat plenty of carbs, very little meat, mainly chicken 1 x/wk and a very tiny portion, only use olive oil to cook, no soda, alcohol, coffee, no smoking, alot of freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juices.

I have been vegan and oil free for a decade. The more I learn about diet the more I understand that these programs are essentially elimination lifestyles. That sounds negative but it isn’t at all. I have eliminated animal products, processed food and oil and love my life. The food is delicious and satisfying thanks to Dr McDougall and Mary. I am 6’3” and according to Dr Kempner I should weight 175# fully clothed. No matter how much I try I cannot get there. I am healthy but are 20# overweight in the McDougall program. Keep in mind I lost 80# over the past few years. I am doing Mary’s mini now to see if that can push me past this plateau. Great info Dr McDougall! Thank you and Mary for everything.

Your BMI is 21.9. I see no reason for you to lose any more weight. Your weight is right in the middle of the normal range for your height.

I know just over my handle that most are going to headhunt me. And i will give the dr some credit because he had some success. But i disagree with a ton he says. 1 is fat is delicious to some, I eat trimmings from the butcher and I dont use salt on it. I do use salt sometimes though, in my mid 40s and average bp is 100/60. And I would like him to explain how animal products are poison because I've been eating nothing but animal products for >2 years and Im feeling the best in my life despite me supposedly being sick with great numbers in my blood work and medical tests.

I would like him to explain what types of salt he talks about, each time. Not all salt is bad for health. I also understand his frustration. So many people listen and do not do. Or they simply do not listen. I very much understand his frustration.

Yes...all salt is sodium...and it is sodium that is harmful...it doesn't matter how expensive...what color...or what marketing is attached to it.

Thank u Dr Mcdougall for speaking radical truth despite what mainstream medical association is pushing. I have been wholefood plant based for several years, low bmi, and exercise daily. Feel and look healthy but my BP runs slightly over 120/80. I am glad I chose not to be on meds for it esp after he explains thoroughly. ❤
