Funny enough suppressors are a lot cheaper in the EU compared to the US. Probably the only Gun related thing where that is the case. I have a steel supressor from A-Tec which cost me 250 bucks and an aluminium supressor from Stalon which cost me 350 bucks. So 600-700 is actually one of the more expensive suppressors. Especially for steel
@PancakesRevenge

Luckily for us here in the United States, we offset that high price by adding the additional cost a $200 tax stamp after you pay for your can!
@Kesssuli

Like @TwoFace already said supressors in europe are treated as common item which is part of reason why their price is lower. And in Finland where that Silent Steel is coming supressor arent serialised in any way. You just had to have permit for firearm to prove your right to have one and then walk away from store with supressor, box of ammo and maybe bag of chips. And state wont ever know how many you have/own Civilian can also sell his can for somebody else and it is his responsibly to least check does other party have permit for firearm. Or throw that thing to trashcan if you simply dont care. Supressors for rimfires can go low as 40e(tax included) But rifle proof quality cans are usually around 300-400e So in that regards that guy is right when said more expensive side. If i check their producs in store with muzzle break/flashider for quick detachment that compination price is pretty much 700e.(tax included)

I bought my Ase-Utra QD M4 suppressor in Finland for 400 euros in the 2007 if I recall. Sold it for the same FTF in Finland. They're just not that big of a deal. You could find them next to boat anchors and waders at the sporting goods store.

In Germany you purchase your long gun or suppressor and at the store or private sale. Then you have 14 days to register that item on your waffenbesitzkarte (weapons card). This is done at the district level. You get a stamp on your card. Every stamp cost. Suppressor are indeed respectful.
@mrfunswitch
@mrfunswitch Жыл бұрын
in germany the only way to get a suppressor is becoming a hunter and achieving this takes about a year or more and it costs alot of money so there aren't alot of people in germany that can become a hunter in the first place.
@coolsenjoyer
@coolsenjoyer Жыл бұрын
@@mrfunswitch I'm sure people who want to hunt in Germany will be able to do it just fine. Finland has a fraction of population of Germany and we have a thriving domestic 3-gun shooting sport SRA that requires owning a handgun and you need to practice supervised for 2 years on a rental or loaned gun before you can get your own. And now thanks to the new EU regulation you need a year to be able to get magazines higher than 10 round capacity, which are also a necessity for the sport.
@mrfunswitch

@@coolsenjoyer Is it doable for an ordinanry German citizen to make the hunting license? Sure it is but it's too expensive and too time consuming for most people that would like to hunt. Deamn, I didn't know that Finland has such strict gun laws.

Hey Cris, if the internals is replaceable and so is the cap removable, would it not be possible to run 556 and 30 cal on the same can, just replacing the internals and cap? not sure if I'm missing anything. (this would be to avoid 2 tax stamps and having multi-cal with a single can)

@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz
@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz Жыл бұрын
Mechanically, yes. Legally in the US, no, as the baffle set is considered a suppressor part and is therefore a suppressor. You could use the 30 cal internals and swap the endcaps for each caliber, which is what a lot of people do already.
@argg.x
@argg.x Жыл бұрын
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz oh really? I thought they only applied to the parts that were serialized. Since some companies feature replaceable parts if there is a baffle strike or damage but without having to get the entire can, nor going through the whole suppressor paperwork.
@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz
@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz Жыл бұрын
@@argg.x in those cases the manufacturer is allowed to swap them out on a 1:1 basis. Having extra baffles is a no-go, which also means selling extra is a no-go as well. The AFT also went back and forth on wether a wipe was able to be serviced by the owner, they settled on 'you can replace it yourself, but you cant have extras'. It doesn't make sense as baffles are just useless bits of metal without a tube to contain them, but we all know the ATF is mechanically illiterate and following the rules of people who were even more mechanically illiterate 90 years ago. And of course I need to add: I dont agree with the laws, I'm just telling you what the ATF thinks about them. I think silencers should be bordering on (but not actually) mandatory (because I hate mandates), I hate the stupid way theyre regulated.

It's funny how they see $600-$700.00 as expensive. Over there tho they see cans as normal and even polite. Here we have the availability of getting guns easier, but the suppressors are much more of a process. I will say the only advantage to the process we have is the quality of the cans. Someone is not going to want to spend $700.00 plus the tax on a can that sucks. There is a push to make quality and quiet cans because of how the market is. Cool design. It would be neat to see them stateside.

Cheaper side of aluminium cans in europe are made for bolt actions so those are made lighter and maybe bit less durable by design for average hunter so he can enjoy his hobby and make it less painfull for his buddies and dog. Cans meant for semi/full-auto otherhand are more expensive for reason and flow through design is even more because more complex system than solid baffles in traditional supressor.

Probably because it's a lot of backpreassure for little to no gain.
@Paelorian
@Paelorian Жыл бұрын
@@lieutenantcoloneltanyavond8273 If the back of the action remains closed, as on any manual-action (bolt-action, etc.), then the more backpressure the better. The gas is only released through the suppressor, and the more slowly it is released, the better. Less of a spiking pressure wave to hear as loud sound. Obviously back pressure id a concern on any autoloading firearm that cycles when there is still gas pressure in the barrel. But a classic Tesla valve isn't ideal because of the cylindrical shape of a firearm suppressor. But modern suppressors are designed with such fluid dynamics principles in mind. It's all about retarding the release of gas as much as possible, and for autoloaders directing the release of gas at the front and away from the action. With the increased popularity of suppressors, maybe we'll see suppressed actions where the ejection port is suppressed.

Nah, it’s still not expensive here in europe. Some people will buy those super cheap 160€ cans for .22lr and .223, but those are mostly seen as cheap cans to get started with. They also aren’t very robust and won’t last very long if you use them with 223. Hunters and sports shooters (in countries where they can buy suppressors) will usually go for better ones which are in the 500-700€ price range and hunters who are very dedicated to suppression will often buy cans which are priced at well over 1000 euros. And the NFA sucks, but it still has advantages over what we have here in Europe. Here suppressors are usually limited to certain groups (hunters, licensed gun owners, etc) and full auto guns, grenade launchers, etc are completely banned. The idea of anyone being allowed to buy these things after paying a 200€ tax stamp is completely utopian to us.
