High Force Waterfall Walk in the North Pennines AONB

I love a good walk that has lots of waterfalls - if you have any other waterfall hikes you could recommend, I'd love to know about them.

Caroline, The reservoir above High Force is called Cow Green Reservoir. Interesting walk with typical summer weather.

Now here's a place I love the sound of but know pretty much nothing about - the Pennines. Love how you persevered through the rain, I know how hard it is to get the camera out and film when it's so wet so thumbs up for that alone. Glad to see you made it past the river without getting pulled in by the ghost - you lived to tell the story which is always good! Very pretty walk, being a waterfall lover too it's always great to see multiple falls on a trail so this one is a real treat. Loved the Gibson Cave one as I'm partial to those you can walk behind and see the 'back' of the water. Looking forward to seeing more from this wonderful area of England.

Thankfully the rain was on and off throughout the day. The heavens opened as we arrived at Low Force, but thankfully there was thick tree coverage so we just admired the falls' beauty under the canopy. Though we definitely got rained on pretty hard between Low and High force. The next shower was just after we bought ice cream so again could use that as an excuse to find cover and wait it out. But I agree, when filming, it's hard as you don't want to ruin the camera! I'm afraid this is my only video from the North Pennines part of England, though (and spoiler alert) I was in the Peak District over the Easter bank holiday weekend so will have 4 videos from there later in the year and the Pennines do run down there. I really want to hike round High Cup Nick at some point, and also visit the Yorkshire Dales too - ah, so much to want to see and so little time!

@@WhenAdventureKnox Yeah your list sounds a lot like mine - never ending! There are so many amazing places out there. Looking forward to the Peak District, I have never visited so will be good to see what you got up to.

How are you doing mrs Caroline thank you for sharing your trips with us showing us such magnificent landscapes beauty of nature as always iam gathering main information about places you visited briefly here it’s high force is waterfall on river tees near Middleton in teesadale England north Pennines area of outstanding natural beauty and European geopark it’s part of historic county boundary between riding of Yorkshire on south bank and County Durham north bank since local government reforms of 1974 south bank of teesdale included within county of Durham for administrative purposes public footpath the entrance is free and open through year have excellent facilities for visitors toilets and picnic areas

I hadn't realised that the south bank of the river was Yorkshire and the north bank County Durham - but now the cost to see it from the north side and the fact that the south side is free makes perfect sense - operated by 2 different councils. I love how I grew up not far from here, yet it's you, who is all the way over in Saudi Arabia who through your research is able to teach me this!

You bring back nice memories Caroline! In the two years I worked and lived in England, I managed to squeeze in quite a few nice getaways. One of them was a week trip in the north including Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall, Durham and this High Force Waterfalls. So can't wait to see the rest of the serie. I didn't know about the other waterfalls but they look amazing too. And how about legends in the north. They seem to be about boys as I remember one about the Drumming boy in Rippon not to far from High Force where he escaped the castle through a tunnel only to never return again. Anyways, like you I love waterfalls and within the UK, I remember being surprised by a waterfall 'country' as they call it near Swansea. Over there you can see many waterfalls. And you can walk behind one of them as well. I had to look for the name in my computer as Welsh is not my forte hahaha. The name is Sgwd yr Eira. I highly recommend a trip to the area and hike/roadtrip around the Pembrokeshire coastline as it is stunning.

Hi Robert, that's really cool that you lived here for a couple of years and explored the North East - my friend Laura who I explored the area with for a week, despite having grown up in the UK hadn't been before and I know many other Brits who haven't either - I think it's often not on people's radars - it does make for quieter trails though!! I visited waterfall country in Wales back when we got a 'long weekend' when Prince William and Kate married. Though my memory of it's very hazy so I'd love to go back - especially given how stunning the waterfalls were too! Pembrokeshire Coast has been on my list for too long and we keep pushing it back and I'm really not sure why! I love Wales so maybe a trip to the coast with a stop off in Waterfall country is in order? So pleased to know this video brought back find memories and hopefully the ones still to come will do the same!

My favourite waterfall was the on the well worn track that turned to bracken fern. Loved the different levels the water flowed down. Sometimes it is worth checking out what others and doing - you found a gem. 💎 Thanks and looking forward to the series.

I think that was my 2nd favourite in the end. Low Force - the first one, was my favourite, but I agree that the the one with all the different levels was really interesting and the colours and ferns around it made it all the more pretty. Ironically Gibson's cave was next as it was cool how you could walk behind it, and the the so-called 'showstopper' waterfall that the trail's named after came 4th. Though none are really to be scoffed at! So pleased that you're looking forward to this series, I can't wait to share the adventures!

Caroline, Thanks for sharing your homeland.🌉 At the start of the video you walk through an iron gate with a sign "These plants can kill" I can't wait to find out about that. I would love to explore the UK and see it history. In the US 200 years is old but in the UK that is nothing. Love the green hills, farm lands and the great waterfalls☂☂. That sign and gate is to a restricted section in a place called Alnwick Gardens - very high up in the UK, not too far of a drive to the Scottish border. The Alnwick Garden video will come out on Sunday May 8th and I'm quite proud of that one - it was a jam packed day, but the poison garden was the highlight of the gardens for me. I've always found it funny in the US when buildings are described as being old. Though in school I used to envy the shorter history when it came to needing to learn and recall things - easier when there's less of it. Love how apt your name is when you live in a rainforest - most fitting.

Your mention of the whin sill rock has brought back memories of reading about this, and I'd forgotten about it as I didn't bring it up on camera. I know about the other waterfalls you mentioned (especially Gaping Gill as it's fascinating) but I had to google hard draw force and it looks amazing!!
