Watch me take an abandoned piece of furniture and transform it into a super glossy modern designer cabinet.
In this video, I try using Hollandlac Brilliant 98 by Fine Paints of Europe for the very first time. It's an extremely glossy and premium oil enamel paint that's very difficult to spray flawlessly, and you'll get to see how much I struggle with it. Thankfully, I'm able to achieve a nice finish in the end, thanks to a wet sanding and polishing technique that I learned from Kayla Payne: / paintedbykaylapayne

This transformation is absolutely mind blowing. I saw the thumbnail and I thought you added mirrors to it. The fact that it's black high gloss paint is wild. This is one of the most gorgeous pieces of furniture I've ever seen. I'm glad KZbin recommended this video to me.

But when it gets to the art of creating joints and how and when to use them this book really starts to teach you something. At least that was my experience.

I gotta give you all the respect for using a notoriously difficult paint AND going right in with THE HARDEST color to perfect! Black is so hard to get right! I used to paint cars and I hated when customers wanted theirs done black for this very reason!

I used to refinish and refurbish anything from antique furniture to thrift store finds to side of the road treasures. Now that I live in an apartment and was told in no uncertain terms was I to do anything like that on my balcony. I thought to myself, as if, I'm too close to trees and a dusty parking lot, I had planned to do much inside using moving wardrobe boxes to paint & strip in 😂 I have 3 projects just sitting here, they haven't been touched by me in years. I doubt I'll do any refurbishing now, but I am taking a vintage writing desk to be dipped and stripped by professionals. Then I'll get to the good stuff again. I guess I'm a new subscriber now! I'm hooked!
