One tip I can share is slowing the tempo of your swing and exploding through contact.. that simple tip I practice to this day and it has helped me the most.. hit ‘em good!! Been playing for about 25 yrs now and it's crazy how golf's popularity shot through the roof ever since Covid for some reason. Really cool to see so many new people out enjoying the game. Only annoying thing is a majority of them never bothered to learn the basic rules or etiquette of the game before stepping on the course, which unfortunately makes some experiences on the public courses kind of crappy 😂
@fromduffertodriver9 ай бұрын
I decided to start playing AFTER covid lockdowns lol. I picked up the etiquette pretty quickly, but I was surprised by how busy the course and driving range were, I was always under the impression that golf was dying!

"Shot Tracer" on your phone app store. It's convenient if you record using your phone, and I'd say it's accurate 1/3 the time. Most the time I have to adjust it manually.

That is one of the worst things to happen to us higher handicappers. When people are trying to hurry you up, or you think you need to hurry up. I try and find a course or a time where there isn't as many people around. Makes it easier to think about shots, read greens etc

I'm a high handicapper and in my mid 40's. been playing for over 10 years and never brokem 95, I feel like it's been very hard to improve and a lot of it is mental for me. It gets in my head a lot when I am paired with higher skill players and / or it's a slow day on the course and I feel rushed. I would prefer to play methodically amd often wonder how it would be if I could play by myself on my local muni. Through one of my most successful college friends who recently joined a private club for the first time in my life i hahe experienced leisurely non rushed play. Its soooo different. I usually shoot in the high 90s but its much more difficult than my muni. My friend joined the club for social / tennis purposes and then just decided to start golf. He's already a mid handicapper in about 2 years. I'm sure there are other reasons, but it does seem like having access to unlimited play has really sped up his improvement. He will do things like swing by and see if there is a crowd and if not he will just grab a cart and play solo for five or six holes before it gets dark. He was shocked to find out that sometimes i go to the range and just leave because the wait is too long! I always thought private clubs seemed a little bit too snooty for me but I'm now saving up with a plan to join when i hit my 50's.
@fromduffertodriver9 ай бұрын
It's hard to imagine unlimited play. Right now I just try to enjoy myself as much as I can, while trying to make small improvements. A quieter and private club might be the way to go, so I'll have to start saving now!

How long does setting your camera for each shot take?
@fromduffertodriver3 ай бұрын
It takes about 10 seconds tops... I have my phone on a tripod, so as I'm walking up to my shot, I place down the tripod, eyeball the frame, and then go for it! I have to be pretty quick to keep up with the pace of play on my course.

The struggle is real!!! Tough to be on a busy course -filming and with playing with strangers!!! Nice video:) I think you should put your driver into time out 🤣😂. Right now my driver is in the corner. It may come out after I take some more lessons. Funny thing is I use a 4 wood and I hit it further and straighter than the people using driver. Typically my 4 wood goes 200 to 210.
@scottgallison22744 ай бұрын
For the longest time, I didn't even bring my driver cause I sucked so bad with it. But I was determined to get better with it, and worked hard at it. Now, it is my most confident club, and I average 230ish with it, and keep it in play most times. It is a huge confidence thing for me, and always sets up my holes. I break 90 most rounds, so theres obviously trouble with other parts of my game, but man, there is nothing like stepping up to the tee with confidence.....Especially the first tee jitters. Don't have them anymore.

Try to focus on carrying your weight forward toward the target. Your practice swings appear to emulate this but your ball striking swing has your weight on your back foot through impact. This usually stems from the player trying to help the ball get in the air. The loft of each club will take care of this by itself so carry your weight forward so you get good compression and let her have it!!

1:48 I almost did a spit-take LMAO. Hate to see the tap-in miss. When I started 3 years ago, I wasted so much money on balls that I would lose. Used to go through 2-3 sleeves per round, and 5-6 trash balls that I would use for forced carries over water, etc. I would advise to not play on busy courses until you can develop a consistent tee shot and a predictable miss. You should also play the forward tees and work backwards once you're finishing a whole round with the same sleeve of balls. If I had to start over, I would take all the money I spent on golf for the first year with tee times and balls, etc, and use it for coaching instead. I love your video concept though. Great tracers and graphics, too. Also curious to know what tracer you use. Wish I had the balls to film my rounds. If you suck here and take time for video, etc., people will literally hit up on you. It's bad.

I’m a 9 handicap so I’m not great and I don’t mind playing with people who aren’t that good, as long as they can keep a good pace. Getting behind a group, that aren’t that good and gets 2 holes behind is frustrating though. Watching someone take 10 practice swings, then stands over their ball for 1 minute, then tops it 20 yards while he poses and watches the ball. Or someone who drives the ball 220, but waits for a green to clear that’s 275 away. And that’s what I saw from today’s round.

I found Danny Maude’s videos to be pretty good, he has a good way of explaining things. It’s funny, when I first started playing better golf my scores didn’t get better, I think they went worse, I had to learn what distance all my clubs went again. I’m still hopeless, but that’s what the games about incremental. I have a simple goal break 90. I have gotten a 90 and a 91. I should have broken 90 the day I got the 90 but I caught up to a group that let me play through and then I rushed my shots and duffed a simple chip which added an extra shot, maybe 2.

@derekstory99509 ай бұрын
