i think jaws was a bit of a stretch as to truth. if it was then anyone swimming would be eaten and its just not the case. i have swam right next to sharks, people do every day, no one was eaten, bit yes, but not hunted and eaten. we are not food to sharks. Fish are. mistakes happen, its why they bite and people get away, i am sure we taste like chit to sharks. IF sharks liked humans, NO one would be safe and sharks patrol every beach in the world, people just do not see them there. You should hear what the coast guard pilots see everyday when flying over the beaches. Sharks swimming right along beside people everyday all day, we just do not see them. They do not actively hunt humans.
@sgtjohnson493 жыл бұрын
@@opossom1968 humans are too big to actively hunt for most sharks, just like any predator they're smart enough to avoid a tough fight that might injure them (and result in a slow and painful death from the injury) but Great Whites, Tigers and Bulls are a different story though they make up the vast majority of unprovoked and fatal attacks on humans while the other ~500 species of sharks make of the minority if the rest of attacks.

@@TheReetchou Beach water around major cities like Houston, Galveston, Corpus Christi, etc. has a much higher chance of being contaminated because people (especially poor people) can and will use it as a huge fancy toilet, plus you have the cities creating further water pollution by way of ferries, cruise lines, freight ships, etc. and the oil and gas they often leak into the water, not to mention raw sewage. It's not just fecal matter you need to consider when choosing a beach to go swimming at. In terms of encountering human sewage, your chances of that are much lower if you go to a rural beach far away from major cities, but as for everything else, you literally have to exercise your best judgment and not rely on the government for advice.

The pollution at the mouth of the Mississippi River at New Orleans has a dead zone that extends for about 50 miles where nothing can stay alive. Shrimp trawlers have to go way out to catch anything. We dont drink water from the ocean where I am from.
@larrytruelove86593 жыл бұрын
@@openyoureyes3969 Ocean water is not the primary source of water for most of the world. There are a number of desalination plants around the world, but it’s expensive. Many, many lakes and rivers (surface water sources) are downstream from someone’s sewage disposal. Waste water is not ocean water, but waste water contains fecal bacteria unless it’s treated. Most of it uses some form of chlorination, which is then removed before discharging it back into lakes and rivers. But coastal waste water facilities become overwhelmed on occasion. Consider Houston and New Orleans in the last decade. Whole waste water facilities were below water level. The facilities were far enough inland that the hurricane destruction was never expected to happen. Raw sewage ran into fresh water sources. It doesn’t matter that the drinking water plants were not getting their water from the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico was still contaminating inland drinking water sources of fresh water with fecal bacteria.
