High on Fire was my first show back after the pandemic. 1,200 occupancy room. Packed the gills. I was not ready for the sheer volume after not going to shows for 2 years. You could not decipher between instruments. Just a wall of pummeling drums and distortion. Excited to see them play out doors or in a bigger venue next time. Pedal sounds great!

I saw High On Fire in 2007 at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans. They had just released Death is this communion and it was absolutely brutal! I've never heard a distortion that thick and the 1st time hearing the 9 string. I'll never forget that show! Thanks for doing these dude you nailed it

Steve I'm French and I live in France so I was surprised to find Baghdad on a French retailer, I play on a Tiny Terror and a 1x12 Greenback I tried a lot of pedals to get my tone and in 30min of discovery and adjustment I finally found it! by putting it in the effects loop just perfect. thank you for this pedal and I would say that as an entry into boutique pedals there is nothing better

I heard 10,000 years on a show called "the weekly beating" on 104.9 the X in Fayetteville Ark. back in '99. I was blown away by this tune! I didnt know about doom or this type of music, it somehow slipped passed me. and had I, I would have been playing this, Electric Wizard, St. Vitus, etc. instead of the shit the group I was a part of wanted to play ..mostly 80s, and older rock. I was into Death Metal, and they were into playing poison covers at parties. I missed my window because of that, but I still love to crank up SLEEP or any of these bands, and play my bass or guitar along with them. I would love to run this pedal through my Marshall DSL 100 stack.

The amp was set fairly clean for Baghdad, Yeti, and first part of 10000 years. The pedal had the Matamp section off and the gain on the Matamp cranked up a good bit for Eyes and Teeth. For the second part of 10000 years I’m running straight into the FX return, bypassing the Matamp preamp altogether.

Not really. The circuit design is just based on a preamp circuit. You can run it as a standard drive pedal anywhere in your chain, or you can run it end of chain as a true preamp into a power amp or effects return of your amp.

hey steve i have an awesome idea for a doom pedal a signature tony iommi wah yes i know he didnt use it that much until the end tour but his wah sound from that tour is simply my favourite wah sound he used a vintage tychobrahe wah but it costs more than a thousand pounds so can u try and recapture that circuit also thats the wah geezer used in the studio recording of nib so if you dont want to do more than one tony iommi signature pedal dub it as a geezer butler signature pedal(which would be awesome) like you have done tons of fuzz pedals so a wah pedal would be a bit refreshing

Depends on your entire signal chain, but I would say start with the treble band presence below noon and the Mids and bass turned up. Gain, Drive, and Depth all around 3 o’clock. Volume to taste.

On a more serious note, this seems like the perfect pedal for me. I have ran everything I’ve ever had through a cranked clean channel of an a orange CR120 to fantastic results. I however just bought my first real cabs, and I’ve noticed the lack of presence/depth controls are becoming very apparent. Do you have any experience with similar “issues” or anything of the sort ? Thankfully my future Matamp stack has a presence knob lol

I was looking at the Walrus Audio eq specifically because it advertised a studio-like quality in a live setting which is what I’ve been chasing. Thank you for the recommendation

Not a fan of that type of fuzzy muddy distortion - there's very little note definition. Clean clear distortion is the best. It's funny that all of these doom and stone metal bands worship Sabbath, yet Tony always had a clean crisp sound where you could hear every note in the chords, even dominant 7th chords like on the outro of War Pigs.
