I’ve been using this technique in class lately and it’s been working well! That slight push before the single leg really makes your opponents front leg super light and easy to lift/control

This is my favorite single leg. I like to give a little tug on the collar tie then switch to the push.

Thanks a lot. I use to do it without a stiff arm and kind of hugging the leg.

@Jake my comment is kind of dumb and it just said what you said? You really think guys that start normally start from their knees are going to have better take downs than a college wrestler because their belt is black? Ps it isn't hard to avoid a guillotine either, but you wouldn't know that with your whitebelt level understanding of things
@wingoreviewsboxingandmma36673 жыл бұрын
@Jake or maybe you are right, I'm just looking at all the times Daniel Cormier and Khabib lost fights in mma taking down Jiujitsu fighters. Oh wait that never happened, and for a good reason.
@brentonmckiterick47863 жыл бұрын
I lolled, but adapting take downs for bjj is paramount. Wrestlers nerd to adapt coming into submission wrestling; there are necessary modifications in order to not get vulnerabilities exposed, like the neck. The wrestling game isn't practice with guillotines in mind as a threat.
@wingoreviewsboxingandmma36673 жыл бұрын
@@brentonmckiterick4786 oh yeah it's definitely a one way street. Sarcasm no it isn't, bjj takedowns are weaker than a wrestlers submission defense. Jiujitsu is awesome but don't get cocky and think that makes up for the weak takedowns in bjj

Do you apply this same takedown in Gi. I've been working on this takedown and it's been working great. However in Gi my opponent has been pretty quick to make grips and I have to break those first before I feel like I can go. I do love the takedown though.

It could but id be prepared to take a shot to the face on the way in because you're kind of exposed moving into your opponents range unless you have a big reach advantage

You'll get punched while you grab the leg. Maybe get your head close to the opponents body?

I’ve dumped a lot of people with this technique. If you had a situation where it’s best to put someone down really quick for your safety, it catches people off guard and they will be looking up trying to figure out what happened.

@@spacemonkey6552well instead of pushing just a quick jab/overhand to single leg or duck a jab to single leg works just perfect. but indeed hands should punch not just push like he does
