Since I own this cymbal set, I can verify this review being very true to my reality. The observation about the darker 16 and ride-able 18 inch crash, the hi hat slosh and stick definition, the ride ping and crash-ability all are my exact experiences with my set. And I can indeed use them for a variety of styles, so far from motown to metal. Love the cymbals. and excellent review!

As ever, I love the practical, comprehensive, and valuable information you guys pack into your reviews. I never purchase a drum or cymbal without first checking to see what you thought of them. Thank you!

Just bought a set of these, as I always wanted a complete matching of cymbals from one of the traditional artisan producers, previously beyond my financial reach. This review was so helpful, I've viewed it many times now, hearing a great set of beautiful quality cymbals, which look like terrific value for money. My wife gifted me these for my birthday, the package is here and I'm so very excited but have to wait until my birthday, in October! I might sneak a cheeky look , when she's distracted, but after she's opened the package to check the contents for me.

I don't like them. I love them. Absolutely everything I could want in a set of cymbals. Very happy and thanks for the birthday wishes.

I have an Istanbul xist thin 17” crash and I love it. I have cymbals that cost 3X more yet it’s still my favourite cymbal I’ve played can’t recommend them enough great review!

Sounds like the Zildjian As from the mid 80s early 90s. 🔌🔥

Agop the founder worked in the Zildjian K factory in Turkey. When it closed he bought cymbal making equipment from the Zildjian K factory to start his company. He also hired a decent amount of the old Zildjian workers who were out of work. The Memet Istanbul cymbals are a separate company, but Memet is Agop's brother, and they agreed after splitting that they could share the "Istanbul" logo. Sabian also stems from Zildjian (the founder is Robert Zildjian). Lot's of cymbals can be traced back to Zildjian.

These sound meatier in person, got a set 2nd hand and it feels like great quality. Nice weighted bottom hats. I tested it side-by-side with a nice avedis and the sound is pretty comparable.
