Some quick clarifications. March can keep Arlan alive through hell and high water. However March can't simultaneously keep everyone else upright at the same time as Arlan without expending significant SP. Keeping Arlan alive is good and important, but the entire team needs to make it through MoC for full rewards and an unshielded Seele/QQ/Pela/Etc with no healing isn't gonna survive. While you can have March shield every turn, you're consuming some very intense amount of SP if your carry is also doing so, going -2 per rotation. Even if your support is basic attacking all the time, you're still at -1, meaning Arlan can't mash skill. Arlan puts a lot of stress on March's kit, and that translates to SP consumed, negating Arlan's main advantage. Building HP on Arlan isn't advised because his skill and his buffs both key off of % of his max HP, not the number itself. he gets the same buff if he has 100 hp and is at 50, as if he has 1 million HP and is at 500k. DMG% and ATK% are best kept in balance. ATK% being much easier to get causes it to rapidly outpace DMG% on most characters, but for Arlan, with his gigantic DMG% stacks, ATK% performs impressively well on him. This is why the Moles calculation is so close. 10x10 = 100, but 15x5 is only 75. This results in a bit of wonkyness in the math. With E4 and his major traces, Arlan takes 3 consecutive hits to bring down during the early stages of a fight. That is unlikely to happen. They give him a level of safety that makes it very hard to actually mess up and get him killed. It can still happen, but you should be able to save him before it does.

However, since I'm one of those that wants to build almost every single character because that's how I enjoy the game, I re-rolled accounts until I got my fav, unowned standard banner 5⭐on an alt, and also got Arlan on my first 10 pull so I can build him and all the others I couldn't on my main. Regarding Arlan's damage boost, it's actually the third highest, since Qingque can get a boost upwards of 112% at talent level 10 by stacking her skill 4 times.

@@AnemoneMeer Yes, actually, it's generally optimal to use Qingque's skill 4 times when at 0 tiles, then land an enhanced basic + ultimate in the same turn. As long as you know what you're doing and your skill point management is good, it's actually really practical. Just bring a couple of skill point positive team members such as Ting Yun, Fire MC, Nat or even Silverwolf, and go for a 4 skill combo every couple of cycles. A lot of the time, you may end up getting 4 tiles in 3 skill uses, but in that case, you're saving 1 skill point for next cycle and are still getting around 84% DMG bonus, so it's still a really good result. Although, managing to get 4 tiles in exactly 4 skill uses when you have Qingque's ultimate is one of the biggest dopamine rushes you could get playing this game. Definitely recommend building her to anyone interested, her playstyle is incredibly unique and a ton of fun.

@@koelee Oh yeah, I imagine it's a total dopamine rush when it hits, and she's certainly super fun for people who like gacha in their gacha. And totally viable too. But it is an acquired taste, and spending 4 SP on that one attack just causes me personal pain imagining all the other ways I could build teams to spend that SP. Odds are if you're mashing skill, you draw into it before then, or get RNG screwed. Either or. Hitting on exactly 4 is pretty rare.

@@AnemoneMeer yeah, it's pretty rare, but actually more common than it may seem at first. In a drawn-out fight like in MoC, I find that I get to land a 4 skill combo at least 1-2 times between the two battles in each half. I mentioned it in my previous reply, but getting to 4 tiles early isn't too much of a loss since it means you have more skill points that you can use to get another enhanced basic in your next turn. Additionally, if you get screwed over by RNG and don't have 4 tiles after your fourth skill, since you really only want to be going for a 4 skill combo when you have Qingque's ultimate ready (so that you can make use of the DMG bonus for both her normal attack and ultimate), you could always just use her Ultimate first to get her enhanced basic on the same turn anyway. I wouldn't really consider it a waste of skill points either, since the team members you would pair her with would still be performing at maximum potential, even if they aren't using skill points every turn (like Ting or SW). It's more so finding a use for the skill points that the rest of your team isn't going to spend - after all, 28% DMG Bonus for 1 skill point is a _lot_ (for reference, Tingyun's ultimate at Level 10 gives 50% DMG Bonus). Having Qingque as a main DPS is definitely an acquired taste though, since it takes a bit of playing around to understand her combos and when/when not to use her skill. Fortunately though, for players who aren't interested in learning the nuances in stacking her skill, she actually works really well as a skill point battery/second DPS, by letting her gain tiles passively, and still getting big attacks in every couple of cycles. This playstyle opens up a lot more team building options with Qinque, allowing her to be used with characters she couldn't be paired with before, like Seele or Bronya. Sorry for the long reply by the way, just thought it was worthwhile delving into in case anyone was interested.

It’s tough, some people have said it’s enough, I haven’t tried myself, and from what I can tell it shouldn’t be that hard. But abundance can be brought. Ofc cocolia is different because she always spams aoe

@@viichie You might need additional buffs to make the shield stronger or something, Cocolia has too much AoE. The pro is that you can rupture her quite easily, but a single Bronya + Cocolia combo and Arlan is very probably dying. Her AoE also is a multi hit attack, so Arlan Eidolons might not be enough to survive. The good thing is you can use her spears for healing (if you kill them with Arlan) but idk...

i found arlan was best paired with bronya march and on the last slot you can either bring tingyun if you are not afraid or natasha / bailu to ensure that he will survive big targeted attacks from boss (if the attacks deals more damage than the march's shields) bailu is especially huge for him as she can rez him once if he died because he was at 1 hp and the march shield broke. One more Tip with the bronya march arlan combo, try to speed sync so it does march => arlan => bronya, this way arlan can take two turns each time, the problem you can encounter for long fights is that this combo is very skill point hungry as the shield from march only last for 3 turns you will need to refresh the shield each turn when arlan is low on hp :D but he will destroy anything on his path :p

So excited to see an Arlan guide! I’ve been maining him since I sniped him on the standard banner. Sad to see all the negativity towards him, but I’ve been loving him. His only restriction is that he essentially needs Gepard’s thick shield. I’ve been running him with Gepard/Qingque/Pela (and then upgrading to Silver Wolf more recently). It’s wickedly strong! Arlan supremacy!

Great guide. Usually Arlan gets only ignored and shoved into the lowest spot on all tier lists. He’s so fun in teams. Don’t have Gepard but Fire Mc works. In longer battles I bring Bailu. There’s a chance of getting bounce healed by accident but also the emergency revive is great when things get a bit too risky 😅 I was lucky to get Arlan and even his signature light cone really early. He feels like one of the starter characters for me 😊

Gotta say, The clara cone is not bait at all, the 5star base stats, unconditional atk bonus, and additional dmg% bonus from being hit (happens often as a destruction unit) or gettting a kill (happens often bc he deals great damage). The heal cannot trigger again until after the buff expires, so it is not at all going to (over)heal him as your skill will use more hp than it gives, but still enough to survive a decent variety of attacks if you are using him with FMC for instance with a weak shield. S5 Moles can beat out Clara's if you maintain arlan's talent really well, but Secret Vow loses to it even at S5 under that same pretense. the S5 Herta cone (which we only get 1 of) does keep up very evenly with it regardless of most situations. Generally, getting both Atk% and Damage% would be ideal. He's getting a metric ton of Damage% in his talent already, and atk buffing is the easiest thing to get from support units so be mindful of diminishing returns.

Unless you have S5, so in 10 years, Clara cones benefits are weaker than the two 4 stars, and the heal will make him lose out partially on the dmg% buff. It’s not complete bait but since aeon is free and we have two good 4 stars, it’s better to leave Clara cone for someone else

@@guobacertified for sure, I'm an Arlan main since day 1 and I got lucky getting Clara cone really early. No matter what calcs I run in the character builder, there is a lot to lose and very little to gain from switching off even for Aeon. And I still feel like you're overplaying the healing factor. For example, if you're at 1% HP and then heal from Clara cone, you use your skill next turn to get right back at 1% before your skill deals damage, maintaining perfect talent usage while still benefiting from the survivability and the additional LC dmg% bonus. 8% of of Arlan's attack is outrageously less healing than 15% of Arlan's max HP and it can only happen in the optimal order. For anyone running multiple destruction units, you have a point about giving it to someone else though since he can get just about the same synergy from others if you were lucky with gacha

Just one thing if you use Fire Mc as sole Def Unit for Arlan you probably will run into Problems in Heavy Aoe Fights like Cocolia since the shield isnt that big, nice Idea tho never rly botherd with Arlan before.

At lower investment levels, this is indeed true. However, at high levels of investment on fire MC, your shield is actually impressively dense. You will however need to both have a good statline on Fire MC and use your taunt proactively. Such is the price of power though, as all versions of Cocolia possess Lightning weakness, and Arlan's consistent hits of 60 toughness damage rapidly whittle her down. Arlan's ult can also be used to respond to her summons, instantly breaking one and potentially Cocolia and denying the AoE spam.

The issue with Arlan is that he heavily relies on super invested team to deal the maximum potential damage. Fire MC can work with huge investment and stat min maxing, but I'd say Gepard solves the majority of Arlan's weaknesses

Geppy solves the problem too, but is gacha, and Fire TB in general is a unit who needs a lot of stat investment to truly shine since they need EHR for taunt and Def for shields and all that.

I’ve tried fire MC with Arlan, but it always feels like the shields are too weak to properly cover him. I’ve found much more success with March actually, since Arlan hovering at 1hp doesn’t trigger March’s aggro boost. Putting him next to March also gives the rest of the team protection from splash damage when March gets targeted

I have gepard pretty well built and can create a shield of 1190. This really helps in simulated universe and forgotten hall to keep Arlan alive, also along with Natasha’s healing. I personally like him over Serval since I don’t have jing yuan. Don’t get me started on simulated universe with all the destruction blessings😮‍💨

Arlan is on my side bench currently as im leveling up ying yaun and silver wolf. I finshed his set up that i like and he has 145 spd and high atk. He litterly just goes berserk. His relic set is the one that recovers 8% hp when 50% or less hp which helps keep him alive. If i get luchao (next healer) then i will pair them up together

There may be an obvious answer but just wondering if using Tingyun instead of Arlan in the (Selee, Pela, Arlan, Shielder) team would just be better for overall team damage output. Tingyun is SP neutral/ positive as well and provides damage big buffs, energy restoration, and doesn't need to risk being at low HP. She's also of the lightning element and can contribute towards breaking lightning weak enemies, albeit to a lesser extent compared to Arlan. In my head the TY team is probably better since the "hypercarry" setup (main dps + buffer + debuffer + sustain unit) seems to be tried and true, with myself and many others finding success with it. On top of Tingyun herself being one of the best damage amplification units in the game. From the video I gather that Arlan serves a similar role of contributing to the teams overall damage output while remaining SP neutral and even positive when the need for it arise. So in a way he could be seen as a replacement for TY in MoC if she's being run on the other team, but an upgrade, would that be fair to say? The only areas I can see Arlan outvaluing TY in the more supportive/ sub DPS role in his shield breaking capabilities and if his personal damage is actually provides more value than TY's buffs. I have already invested into TY and am considering how worth it would be to invest into Arlan. Could be good for the second MoC team, however, I already have Asta built as well, and usually one half of an MoC hall will have fire weak enemies. Granted, Asta her self is a bit more skill point demanding, but has been doing good as a buffer/ dedicated breaker in my other team. I haven't actually played Arlan before though so I'm purely working off info in the video and experiences playing the game. Would appreciate some insight into this.

Arlan and Asta pair well together, and you can simply put your Tingyun with Seele if you want. You sadly can't run Tingyun on both sides, so you could do Tingyun/Pela/Seele/Defensive Support, then Asta/Arlan/Other Carry/Shielder and have Arlan help compensate for Asta's hunger while benefitting heavily from Asta's buffs.

Thanks for the comment, I mean you can really run what you like, but Asta yukong and SW and a bit weaker, Pela, provide multi target buffs for for the two DPS. Anémone already replied but if you wanna use TY, I guess you can ^^

I really love using him bcs of high damage and no sp consume, but in moc keeping him alive is really really hard (2k shield from gepard can only save him for 2-3x normal enemies attack). I only need to E4 him soon

very likely in 1.2, since blade is coming out, and the current set of gear are almost all just shit with blade. since blade is just arlan++, its very likely his gear can be shared with arlan its very likely they are going to release a set that provides extra health in first 2-set keyword and a damage boost based on either maxhealth or missing health on 4-set keyword down the line

If you use FMC as the sole defensive character, how do you prevent the enemy from attacking Arlan? You could taunt with FMC every turn, but then you don't have enough skill points for your non-Arlan DPS to function, right?

Since Arlan generates SP, and you dont need to taunt exactly every turn (think start of fight, and enemy weakness broken), you have plenty of SP :) Whenever you need SP, Arlan can go basic spam for good damage combined with ultimate, and give those SP to the main carry

Hmm, didnt really think too much about bringing a main dps, good to get some other perspectives. Atm i'm wrapping up my 50cr/170% cd arlan. Since i put speed boots on his attack has suffered down to 2.3k but the idea was to bump it back up with benediction + aeons up to the 3k where diminishing returns kick in. Regardless of stats, here's the eyeball calculations i made. I feel like if he could just main dps his way through, you could afford a bit of a heavier "keep that one alive and mega buffed" setup, focusing all SP on buffing/debuffing and tanking. SW needs to just throw out skill once or twice depending on the team to get the desired effect and applies bugs with basics (important), both yukong and tingyun dont need to skill every turn. So you have some basics going in letting MC rotate provoke consistently. I do feel like the notion of "bring a main dps" is because units like Seela are overtuned. And with "units like seela" i mean seela alone LOL and prolly some that'll come in the future, in which case it becomes more important to feed them. All in all Arlan is really for Arlan enjoyers like me who dont care if they'll stagger their entire progress just to overinvest and enjoy playing the unit they want. Edit: everything i said crumbles if consistent AoE is required, where you definitely want an erudition main dps with him.

March works great for Arlan. Since he's always low hp the aggro won't be increased. The shield can also last up to 4 turns which is fairly skill point efficient considering how chunky her shield is. March also combos well with skill point efficient characters if she is a solo shielder since she will be using skill points every turn. I run Arlan with Clara and make Clara tank with the Wuthering Snow set while the rest of the team is perma shielded, it's also easy to slot a debuffer as a 4th.

Problem with March is she doesn't prevent the rest of the party from being AoE'd down. She can keep Arlan alive through basically anything, but that doesn't help much if your Seele is currently dead.

Nothing really. Super old guide that was for people that wanted to use him but didn’t know how. We have many limited dps that outshine all 4* minus e6 QQ, and some others have uses i guess but not as hyper carries

I calculated his attack with the light cone in question, two atk% main stats, and the atk main piece. No sub distribution which turns A Secret Vow a bit higher in favour, but I didn’t add the DMG% 2 piece so it is negligible as it would decrease again. A secret vow remains his best until you weakness break on Aeon, and S5 vow is rare rn
