Tom's face after that "I need someone with hands!" was the greatest! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Also spoilers below Be careful That sequester was likely Lucius' only hope. 10 minutes is 100 rounds. Even if sentry gave him 1hp per round from her lay on hands pool, that's another 60 rounds they'd have to keep healing him and making those medicine checks.

Grey Lano went before Lucius though and he only goes unconscious at the beginning of a turn that he has no air. With consistent success Grey Lano should have been able to keep air in his lungs and he wouldn't have gone unconcious all that often, so the healing should have gone a lot farther. Mark just messed up the order. Which is fine, it was compelling either way.

Like I said, all of Sentry's lay on hands healing would last 30 turns. Idk how many spell slots Quill had, but if he could burn 21 (the full amount he could've had), that's still another 39 successes that would have to be done. That's a lot of checks and a single failure would've mean Lucius' death. I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it's extremely unlikely. 39 might seem doable, but Quill was likely low spell slots which bumps that number by a lot.

No, they would need 100 rounds of successful medicine checks, with 39 checks after a successful check/heal. Every time a medicine check is failed, Lucius starts suffocating and can't be healed or stabilized. Once they get a failed medicine check, they're at the mercy of death saves until they can get a successful medicine check.

I Have an uncle who is currently battling cancer, and a few weeks ago I saw him for what may be the last time. I'm holding out hope but his diagnosis is grim and I've been keeping my emotions bottled up and this just opened the flood gate. Amazing session, this is and will continue to be one of my favorite D&D live play sessions.

Sadly even if she did know to do that. They still had to do it for 10 minutes which is 100 rounds. It would have been like a defibrillator though. Just pumping him with extended life for that long, like something out of a war movie, keeping the wounded soldier alive. Very cinematic indeed. But sadly not enough.

Yeah, was a few mistakes made by them in the whole sequence, but understandable given how quickly things went to hell in a hand cart. The biggest omission was them missing that breath under suffocation has a minimum period of 30 seconds which would have meant only 20 rounds were required

This felt more real than following book rules, im no doctor but surely a person IRL wouldnt have the luxury of a definitive 30 seconds and a breath literally the moment you had your lungs cleared out.

in the moment Sentry would’ve given everything she had to help him. I did think about the 1 hp at a time thing, but for RP purposes desperately giving all of her remaining Lay On Hands points felt more like something she’d do.

Strictly for metagame's sake: Sentry could've used lay on hands 1hp per round. That would've bought them 3 minutes (30 rounds). Probably still wouldn't been enough with the whole teams spell slots and potions. If you really wanted to game it you could wait to heal until Greylano failed a medicine check, then let Lucius fail a single saving throw; at least doubling or tripling the number of rounds! (Since it's not likely that the medicine check and the saving throw will both fail, and even if Lucius crit fails his death save then he's not in danger of dying.) Glad they didn't sell that sequester scroll... though, It would've been cheaper just to raise dead!!!! heh

Lucius relies on his eyes to use dichromancy and his magical powers as he draws his magic from colour. Of course, I would rather Lucius live with one eye than the part have to bring him back to life though

I do not know you personally, Kim, and I cannot begin to understand what it is like for you to lose a friend; One thing I would like to put out there, as a person who reacts strongly to emotions - Please do not apologize for showing emotional distress, especially now that society needs to distance itself to prevent a pandemic from spreading, as you put it yourself, it is healthy to feel emotional pain, it is part of the healing process... I know this wouldn't have altered the outcome really, but annoying that it clearly says in the description of suffocating that there is a minimum of 30 seconds, not the 1 turn that they were using. 3 of them read this and didn't pick it up 🙈 This would ultimately have not changed the result since Lucious still had the 2 death failures, but could have influenced how they went about things since this would have only been 20 turns instead of 60 turns which was clearly impossible. Still, great role play by all, and a fitting reversal considering the almost comical ease with which they killed off the frog men 😅

The minimum of 30 seconds is for holding your breath, but once you start suffocating you only have a number of rounds equal to you con modifier (min 1). Since Marks injury rule states that the injury causes the character to start suffocating, unfortunately Lucius wouldn't benefit from the 30 seconds of held breath.
