thats crazy they are using Fiber optics now, is that for Latency Purposes utilizing speed of light and not just Bandwidth reasons? I dont see a FACP needing Fiber Optics like bandwidth of gigabit and so forth. I know Electrical voltage travels at slightly less than Speed of Light.
@nics-systems-electric Жыл бұрын
Systems can be networked together with copper or fibre this school does not need that much speed however voice systems that are pushing live voice over network need to be somewhat quick
@CapStar362 Жыл бұрын
@@nics-systems-electric oh i fully understand voice networks and etc etc, but specifically for the FACP. so is the FACP able to send voice instructions? and a direct voice access for special instructions during a incident? I mean VoIP clarity only requires a 256 Kilobit upto 2048 KBit codec to hear a voice over a bullhorn as clearly as me yelling it to you. I do IT myself and have been for just over 21 years. FACP's are something I take interest in, but never got into them. so seeing full fledged Fiber Networks for FACP Dedicated systems is a new one for me. I assumed it was specifically for latency, as Fiber is actually faster than copper as far as signal latency goes ( you lose about 1-2 ms for conversion from ONT to copper PCB and overhead processing ) but that 1-2ms makes up more than enough using Ethernet or RJ-11 through RJ45 jacks as the signals travel physically slower as RF Voltage rather than Light Pulses.

I could try, but I don't like to spread misinformation around. I don't have training on dust extraction systems, so I'm not the best person to be given knowledge on them. My middle school had an NFS 320 fire alarm panel, and it wasn’t synced either. They all seem a bit problematic with larger systems. That one was also slightly older I think. The devices I saw were NBG-12LX (pull) FSP-851 (smoke) PC2W (classroom horn/strobe) P2W (music room, gym and stairway horn/strobe) SW (strobe for closets and small spaces) SCW (bathroom strobes) P2RK (outdoor horn/strobes.) There was also a white multi-candela SpectrAlert Classic outdoors next to the front entrance for some reason. It seemed very out of place, and was definitely older! There were also a few disused Wheelock 34t-24DC horns and an old bell in the gym from a previous system. Someone threw a ball at the disused bell and broke the gong off. Only an electrical box remains there now.
