It’s very strange that he can’t pass the written test when he aces the oral test. Most fans feel that at some point the characters lost a lot of their depth and got “stupider,” maybe to keep up with the “insane and random” humor that got popular in the 2000s.

Also now that you mention it, yeah your right about the written test. If you look at his VERY FIRST INTERACTION with Mrs. Puff in the series, it's him completely acing the written test. So therefore that is completely false when he says he hasn't completed it once

In Season 1, he was more like someone who knows everything about driving, but gets way too nervous behind the wheel. 2 & 3 drop the oral test, so it's hard to say whether it's the same. But afterwards he can't really do anything in boating school right.

I will say, it's interesting this episode is the only one with a demonstration test first and a knowledge test second. Not that I blame the writers for inconsistency, since the episode flows better this way

Well surprisingly the writers back then actually cared about Stephen's wishes. One of Stephen's biggest wishes for the show was that Spongebob NEVER get his driver's license.

I predict this episode would be covered. You done an excellent job explaining about how school lunch times work and the school education system. This was the worst and upsetting episodes of Season 6 on SpongeBob, it is upsetting to see what happen to Squidward at the end. At this section, you should pause and explain.

I remember how my generation started eating outside when we got to high school. It was pretty much unrestricted. However, we didn’t have those picnic tables; we mostly just had round tables with diamond-shaped holes in them. Also, the tables were all underneath a pavilion, and I bet that may have been particularly useful on rainy days, though if the weather was really stormy, they wouldn’t permit us to eat outside. The indoor cafeteria was much larger than the outdoor eating area, which is why most students ate in there. One half of the room would have long tables, while the other half would have round tables with a few seats.

Anyway, before I recommend a episode I wanna discuss how bad I feel for Squidward, I was wrong about how bad the episode was but SpongeBob pushed his boundaries to be in this situation in the place. SpongeBob gets uncomfortable at some in the episode. Now time for the recommendation since you said there's always two sides of the story and that usually it ends in the middle in the video it made me curious on what your thoughts would be on "Friend or Foe?" 6:11 that’s one thing I remember hating back when I was in school 😂. At the beginning of the school year the teacher would allow us to sit wherever we wanted but then a month after I guess the teacher would have an idea of who to separate so we would come in to class one morning and the teacher would have the seating plan written on the board so me and my friends would get disappointed lol. When I was in high school during lunch time for the juniors and seniors as long as they had a good GPA they were able to receive off campus passes where they were able to leave campus to buy food during lunch time.

Your comments about school lunch were interesting to hear. In my experience, at all three levels of schooling (elementary, middle, and high) were all completely outdoors with shading. And besides just a few supervisors (non-teachers), we were kind of just released to do our own thing, even as little kids. Funny to hear how different schools can be!

Actually in Bryan High in Bryan TX, at least when I was there, you could eat lunch outside whenever you wanted, and it didn't matter if you were 9th or 12th if you wanted to eat outside you could, I once saw a few people eat outside when it was raining. And believe it or not we got food that you would buy takeout, for lunch

The thing I hate the most about this is how SpongeBob is portrayed here. Instead of making him reasonable, they make him the equivalent of a creep, not even an equivalent, he is a creep. I don’t care how friendly he is to Squidward, if it gets to the point where he starts touching him in the middle of class and staring at him in class, that is just disturbingly creepy. The reason situations similar to this worked in the early seasons, is sure SpongeBob would be in the wrong most of the time, but he is aware when he goes too far or if he is really pushing it. Here, he couldn't care less about personal boundaries.

My high school had chalkboards, but only because it was an old school. We never used them though because we also had plenty of whiteboards. They were more of a pain than anything because the teachers would put desks right against the chalkboard, so if you had one of those desks and you tried to lean back the bottom part that holds the chalk would constantly press against your back.

I enjoy all the sound effects in SpongeBob too! I'm a film student and I find foley to be very interesting and a possible career choice for me. I watched a video on how they make the sound effects for SpongeBob and for Mr. Krabs the foley artist tap against a sea shell repeatedly to make the sound. The cool thing about foley is that it doesn't have to be an accurate sound, it just has to trick the brain into thinking it is realistic.

I remember them being very problematic to work with for teachers, with one glitching out just from a pen accidentally hitting it. I do wonder how driver's ed is handled now. When I was in high school (mid/late 1990s), I was in the last group where the state required the school to provide it for free (once) to enrolled students. However, I was conversely in the first group with new stringent requirements that put driver ed into two parts (in the summer and following winter) and required an independent road test. So, in one sense lucked out that I got it all for free, but that did little to offset the feelings of a 16-year old who now had to wait longer to get his license.

At my old high school, in order to get a permit to park in the school parking lots (as a student), you'd need to take a one day course put on by the local police department that would basically shock you and your parent (who were required to be with you there) with gory scenes and videos of car accidents. It was pretty brutal and is certainly a blunt way to demonstrate the reality of the risks involved when using high speed vehicles and the importance of driving safely. Although in hindsight, I think the course was more geared towards the parents, who would probably be more restrictive over their teenager's driving freedom after seeing that. Have you ever been at a school that has had something similar to this? Your comments about school-sponsored driving courses reminded me of this, although of course my example wasnt required unless you wanted to park on campus. From what ive heard, this was mostly a practice done in the 90s and early 00s rather than nowadays.

I don't know if you've already been recommended The Owl House, but it's yet another show with great education scenes worth looking at someday. It centers around Luz Noceda, whose struggles at school lead the faculty to suggest her mother have her sent to Reality Check Camp for the summer. But before she could go, an owl snatches one of her things, forcing her to follow it into an abandoned house containing a portal to the Boiling Isles in an alternate dimension called the Demon Realm. There, she later enrolls in Hexside, a magic school somewhat similar to Hogwarts. Fun fact: Luz is canonically confirmed to be neurodivergent. Hey there, I would respectfully disagree, but I think ultimately how much school you need depends on what you want to do for the rest od your life, particularly what job you want to have. If you prefer a job that doesn’t require as much education, then you don’t need it.
