I'm sad to say that i was once part of a group that did this. I tried to stop then from being cringy but it didn't work. We made a 15 minute skit about unrealistic beauty standards and puppets in a factory with like a 3 minute rap/poem thing to start it off where we all said a line as we walked on stage (even when i was doing it i couldn't have told you the plot) the directors took us to a mural and said that our skit had to be based off of it. I still cringe thinking about it too this day.

We actually did a student-written piece not too far from this (different topic in 1992) in high school and I remember how brilliant everyone thought it was and how badly everyone wanted to be cast! It's so hilarious looking back through this lens more than 20 years later, lolololol. Poor parents.

Took acting classes at an art school for a few years, my teacher ALWAYS picked out what we were to perform, whether or not it was going to be performed before an audience. But I definitely felt somewhat of this vibe (or a variant like it) from some of the dance performances.
