Holi Powder is just cornstarch or cornflour dyed with food coloring gels. You can cut out the Holi powder by buying food coloring gels and coloring the flour yourself.

LLBG Productions a little late reply but it's OK.. To ease it for you.. * You need an f/stops at maybe 8 to 11 to get a wide DOF and keep the image as sharp as possible, you can focus then turn the camera to manual focus if subject and camera position will be fixed. *.Your shutter speed be not more than 200 as per the sync speed of the camera shutter with the flash. * Use ISO value to compensate for your correct exposure. * You will need to take some testing shots first to check your photo and exposure before starting the real party..! Hope I was helpful for you..

The shutter speed doesn't really matter in these shots since the motion is frozen by the flash duration (that is very short), not the shutter speed.

Why you put colour to the powder if you are going to change/add the colour in photoshop?
@PhotoExtremist
@PhotoExtremist 7 жыл бұрын
Photoshop colorization is not as useful/efficient/realistic for mixing clumps of multi-colored particles together like the photograph shown at 0:12 as it is for changing the color in large areas, like the picture at 0:11.

Out of curiosity, how difficult is it to wash the color out of your skin?
@SarveshParakh
@SarveshParakh 7 жыл бұрын
These are colours used in 'Holi' festival in India. If you really get yourself messed up, it's a bit difficult to remove them. The traces are left for days. But, if you apply oil on your skin before playing with them, removing them becomes quite easy. As in this kind of a shoot, if you can't use oil, try to bath with Kerosene. Yes, Kerosene. That actually helps a lot. Almost all of the colour would just go away. And if the colour is mild, it's easy to wash it just with a little soap and water. I hope it helped!

Thanks for some creative ideas, but Just a word of caution: Some of these powders are extremely fine and excel at infiltrating camera and lens seals - best to keep your camera and equipment upwind and out of the dust zone while doing this, and to clean up well, keeping the models and dust away from your equipment. See this article at Peta Pixel petapixel.com/2013/05/08/photographing-a-color-run-will-destroy-your-camera-gear-dont-do-it/
