Fantastic video! We took the same steam train journey in 1013 and it was great to enjoy it once again. Thank you.

We must have been doing around 50mph, if not more, so what were those cars doing overtaking us at the approach to Rhyd Ddu doing I wonder? Great fun!!
@fredgrove42205 жыл бұрын
I doubt if it was doing more than 30 mph, and a single track road has a speed limit of 60 mph, ( unless otherwise stated)
@nigelkthomas950110 жыл бұрын
What a brilliant video! I'm sure speed could be increased on the straighter sections of this line. I certainly wouldn't expect 40mph in the Beddgelert area!

Love the comical sounds of the engine accelerating and visually hitting warp drive. It would have been even better with a strangulated whistle or comical fart. Peter Sellers was into all this with The Goons, and he even had a model railway I think. It's even better played at speed x 1.75, and probably best enjoyed when not in a legal state of mind.

nice scenery when not in the cuttings or the trees, amazing to be overtaken by vehicles apparently doing 90 MPH, Nice, Cheers.

This was filmed during a Guest Driver Experience . The day started at Boston Lodge then a run from Boston Lodge to Tan y Bwlch, then back to ortmadoc for lunch. Afternoon was run to Rhyd Ddu then back to Boston Lodge

Sorry its been a while since I processed this, I think it was about 10x. There is another video , at normal speed on KZbin that I put on of the run from Beddgelert to Rhyd Ddu.
@montystelevision32384 жыл бұрын
Would be cool if it really did go that fast. The train dawdles along at what seems like walking pace in reality. It’s nearly an hour to Beddgelert which is only about 7 miles or so.

@richarddrum99705 жыл бұрын
arch9enius.........right on fellows. The US had numerous spring switches many years ago where mainline traffic had the points but a siding train could enter the spring switch and not have to stop and reset the switch back to the main. Not many of those left anymore. Great video.

Bogus video, train cruising madly on a Meter Gauge track, that too on *snake binding curves is impossible.* Obviously the video has played on 2.0 speed if not 2.5. A steam engine accelerating too fast is never seen. What did you achieve in putting the title "High Speed" is not clear. The "Bonus" part is the track change switch is showing a break and still the train easily moves over, seen in two places is hilarious.
@melkiorwiseman52343 жыл бұрын
The Switch/Points are deliberately set that way. They're spring-loaded so the train can push them out of the way as it goes through but they move back immediately. It works so long as the train doesn't try to reverse over the switch, since that would end up derailing the train. But it's a good way of separating the trains so that each direction of travel ends up on opposite sides of the station without requiring anyone to operate the switch.
