Gold Stakes on different Decks everyday. We continue to experiment with how consistently we can beat Ante 9 and Ante 10. Just this once, we have a build which allows us to push for even higher Antes.
BalatroU has a bunch of talented artists, but Kitty is the one who did most of the emotes you see in the video thumbnails. She does pixel art, too, including many of the Jokers for the Extra Credit Mod.

A good example of a run where you don’t beat ante 9 was one that roffle did recently. I think he beat ante 8 by about 6k points

That whole video was a master class on deck building. Especially with how careful you had to be on nebula deck with only one consumable slot. You had zero options to go ham on tarot cards or anything. Very calculated, very insightful, amazing gold stake run. Well done sir.

The -1 consumable slot really seems unnecessary for the nebula deck. Most decks give you one voucher of value, some give the equivalent of two vouchers (black, painted) with a downside, and the zodiac deck gives you three vouchers with no downside. Meanwhile the nebula deck gives one voucher and a downside.

I feel like if you can beat Ante 8, without relying on some form of luck to get you through, then you can almost always beat Ante 9 too. The exception being that you were relying on a perishable joker that died when you beat Ante 8

I remember I had one gold stake run where I got Triboulet and was able to get to ante 16, with 6.9e19 as my highest score. My only regret was staying on Flush House despite about 40 levels on it when I got the Idol, switching to Flush Five could've gotten me so much more points. (Heck, even if I had just one more x1.5, I could've said I broke e20 on gold stake lol)

I also hate Nebula deck, telescope is absolutely not worth a consumable slot imo, it can help with pairs maybe but it hurts way more than any benefit in the long run

Nebula deck I think was unironically the deck I took the longest to get a gold sticker on. (I got lucky with black deck) And the best thing is, the run I finally won with was a run I got the extra consumable slot voucher very early on LOL Having only one consumable slot just feels so bad for me personally

Imo nebula is good only for generic consistant "straight to ante 8" runs. That's the only scenario when 'blue seal equivalent from ante 1' make difference.

I just had to pause at around 2:05:00 because, I don't know if you realize this or not, but, you had a 3 and discarded it. You could have done the thing with that 3. Yeah, it would not have been as many points, but, I think you would have made it. Your best scoring hand was something like e15, so, one card not being glass nor polychrome, still would have made it I think. but the thumbnail seems to indicate that you made it to ante 16, so, I look forward to watching the rest of the video now. those glass cards are so unreliable... just duplicating one card is surely the ticket, rather than keeping a stock of 5 different cards on hand

why is the diminished freeroll better than a fresh $5 cloud 9?

The doc is of the opinion that the free roll is worth the last roll you do, so if you roll 6 deep, the free roll is worth 11 In my personal opinion I like it purely from the perspective that you can always see more stuff, early game you're asking yourself if you reroll (typically no) so you essentially see twice as many shops, which is kinda priceless

Freeroll earns you whatever your last reroll for the shop is, so for example if you reroll 4 times, instead of $5 + $6 + $7 + $8 = $26, it becomes $0 + $5 + $6 + $7 = $18, $8 is earned. In comparison cloud 9 earns $4 per round, sure it can be increased by adding 9s but nobody ever does that so it almost never goes above $4.

In addition to what everyone else said, cloud 9 was a rental so it would only net you $2 per round. Considering that the first free rerolls for 5 shops is already $25 saved, cloud 9 would have to be around for 13 rounds just to catch up to that value, without considering the additional value of seeing more things in the shop.
