How can you move all in if the ace doesn’t come when you’ve already checked in the dark? If that’s any card but an ace Phil has to fold to the shove and he’s left with just 34k. Now I do believe that if Hellmuth had not checked in the dark and it was a blank that he might have shoved but he didn’t give himself that chance to make that play by dark checking.

I think all the weirdness in the A3cc hand was due to Phil using “dark check” to try and reverse the positional advantage Antonio has with the button. Of course, that is old school leveling and Phil figured Antonio would try to bluff the paired board. Of course, this is what happened. Back in 2008 we’d be all like “wow these guys are good” but by now its “wow these guys are stuck in 2008”.
