I have a nickle sentinel R-108 snub nose with the white grips my father handed down to me. He got it when I was a baby and I am 48 years old now. Still shoots great. Enjoy your videos.

I got my mom's pistol yesterday, a 9-shot nickel plated .22LR with 4 inch barrel. Dad bought it (he t thinks he paid $56 for it in 1966 to 1968) when I was a youngster of 4 or 5 years. I'm now 61.

My coworker came to me today and told me he was clearing his closet and wanted to sell a pistol he had. He showed me a picture and i couldnt believe it. It was a snubbed nosed R103... He had never heard of the brand and told me to name my price. I told him it was a nice little pistol i will take it off your hands for your first price. He said well its just a little 22 how about $50... I wanted to scream but i kept it together. Met him for the particulars and made the exchange. Even came with a Red Head leather holster. I remember the H.O.A. President cleared our land one time and told me he killed about 3 snakes that day. I asked him with what and he showed me this nickel plated, white gripped little snubby that put a huge smile on his face. Ever since that day i wanted one of these little gems. Mine isnt the nickel plated variety but im certainly going to embrace it and have some fun with a classic

What I like about my Sentinel is the wider gap behind the trigger guard between it and the grip frame. It does not pinch my finger like some others, such as the older Rugger Bearcat and the H&R. Oh, yeah, it shoots at least as good as I am able to utilize. It was around a $100 back in the last century when I purchased it. Can't find any today for under $350 - $450.

To me, the Sentinel feels and handles like a lighter version of the old Colt Police Positive - a truly classic design.

Great video. One point of fact though, from minute 1:38- theSentinel did have a drop bar hammer block/safety. My R-106 Sentinel Deluxe has one. I believe the R-107 had one also, but it could have been removed at some time. The 106 was something like 1964-66. Just letting people know that one in proper working order, with all original parts, should be safe to carry with all 9 chambers loaded- as safe as a S&W from the same era. As with any used firearms, if you don't know nuances of gun repair, have a gunsmith verify it is safe before using.
@Icarryone7 жыл бұрын
This R-107 has no drop bar (or hammer block) safety. No provision for one has been incorporated. Apparently, there are some subtitle differences between the two models.
@jessjessup23616 жыл бұрын
I believe that earlier models had a bar that prevented the hammer from falling all the way forward unless the trigger was pulled. A horizontal bend in the bar rested between the hammer and frame. When the trigger was pulled the bar moved up and fell into the large curved cutout on the hammer just below the firing pin. This allowed the firing pin to pass through the frame cutout and make contact with the cartridge rim.

I just received a 6" blued R-107 that belonged to my grandfather. It has the drop bar/hammer safety. I'm just learning about these pistols, and from what little I've learned so far am pleased to have it.

The High standard Sentinel -- Everything a revolver needs to be. The only flaw is the lack of a transfer bar or drop bar safety. But that can be remedied with aftermarket modifications you might find floating around; they replace the hammer and add a short twist-lock pin across the back of the receiver.
@Icarryone5 жыл бұрын
I'm going to keep this one exactly the way it came out of the box.
@dylanwight57645 жыл бұрын
@@Icarryone I just happen to have two of them, in addition to a 1957 manufacture Ruger Single Six (with 1974 transfer bar safety modification). The older of the two has the safety, thing being a dark blued finish with checkered walnut handles. The newer _was_ a nickle finish (it's worn off over the years) with some sort of lighter stained hardwood, which I think is maple, though it might be some type of oak. These pistols aren't terribly uncommon in Australia. They're actually pretty popular among target shooters. Most of them were shipped over second-hand from the USA. So if you're wondering where they've all gone, we might be responsible for hoarding a few...

Just curious as to what year your Sentinel was produced because I noticed yours has the ejector rod return spring. I was trying to figure out what year they added it.. I have a prior model and of course it has the scratch.
@Icarryone9 жыл бұрын
KCO All the Sentinel's I've ran across have the ejector rod return springs. But it is possible to disassemble and, for whatever reason, not be replaced. Sometimes a good cleaning and lubricating often gets stuck extractor springs working again.

Hmmm... I will have to dig a bit. I always thought the early ones didn't include a spring.
