is there a way to decrease the voltage or something to allow for the arc to still be visible and stable for minutes without damaging the leads that feed the arc? can you lengthen the leads to any length or do they need to be a certain short distance from the mini HV transformer?

Resistor. fr107 diode . Mjd3055 transistor. Mini HV transformer. On/off switch or voltage switch. Negative and positive terminal.

Hi friend, it is mandatory, the original manufacturer also scratched the top part...

Hey, Just so you know why, usually those wires have insulation on them. Scratching removes it, so that the solder makes a good conduction.

I didn't scratch them and it's working. Just have to burn the insulation with the hot iron. You'll see it when the solder flows.
