Is that German Polka music piped into the factory floor all day?

Haha! The music is all WWI songs written and performed by Germans.

These are obviously artillery shells, not mines. Are they? Any way, very cool piece of history.

The original German caption cards use the word for mines and not artillery shells, so I went with the original words so as not to change any of the original meaning.

There must be some differences in terminology in german manufacturing processes or maybe certain things don't translate over too well. For instance, these are obviously artillery shells instead of mines and if you were turning on a lathe it wouldn't be considered milling

There may well be some language barrier issues, as I had some concerns, too. However, the word "minen" means mines and not artillery shells, so that's what I went with. Either way, I thought the footage was very cool.

@@HighCaliberHistoryLLC I think for historical purposes it is a good idea to preserve that more direct translation

In the german pre45 army a mine could either designate a mine you put in the ground or a shell fired by a gun/cannon/mortar having much thinner walls and thus having a bigger explosive charge. 30mm shells fired by their fighter planes were mines as well, thin drawn body relying on explosives for destruction and not fragmentation
