Looking at my keyword research tool it would seem that the keyword "lawyer" is 5x more searched than "law firm" in the US and are equally as hard to rank for so I would be inclined to choose lawyer as a category. Make sure that your landing page is in line with your category. Just test it out

Hi Oswaldo. Unfortunately you can only claim one listing in one language however you can change the business name to a different language which should help. To do this search for your listing on google maps (make sure you are not logged into the account associated with the listing). Once it's displayed switch the Maps interface into the language you wish to enter the business name. Click the Suggest an edit button from the listing. From the pop up click on change name or other details. In the Name field You should see a second field for the selected language, in addition to the original name fields in the local language. Enter the name in the selected second language. Repeat for the third language. Finally make sure your website is translated in the three languages you want to rank for and make sure the "hreflang" tag attribute is implemented across your site. What do you do if Google doesn't have the correct business category? We market care homes in the Uk so 'care home' would be the natural category choice as that is what they are most commonly known as over here. Unfortunately, this category does not exist because they are called something different in America. The closest terms Google lists are 'Nursing Home' or 'Assisted Living Facility', both of which are different to a care home in the UK. Is there anywhere you can suggest categories to Google?

You can't suggest a category to google so you'll have to choose the closest category to your activity

I would. Remember to switch the link of your profile to a relevant page (if you have a plumbing one that would be great). You might also want to update the cover picture of your listing to something related to plumbing too for more relevance

What are your thoughts on Service Area vs Physical Location. I've personally seen better success with physical locations, but I haven't dealt with too many SA based GMBs. Thank you in advance.

Hi Jim. This is a very broad question. I think service area businesses have as much of a chance to attract customers and rank well as the ones with physical location as long as they are all on the same level playing field. But since a huge percentage of service area businesses don't abide by the guidelines (mainly by adding a physical location to their listing) it leave the ones who do abide by the rules at a disadvantage.

Thanks for this great info! Always helpful stuff from you! Can you please do a video on the new GBP Verification processes. I have many clients that are automatically being required to verify by video and having to show marketing materials, business tools, location, etc - this is even being requested from Mobile service business without a location address. Please can you explain more on what Google is actually looking for and attempting to do by asking for this info? Many clients are freaked out by this invasion of privacy and concerned about making a video plus concerned about not being verified since they only are a service business and have no business location to show. This is very confusing for all! Is this GBP new way of Verification for everyone? Seems like it lately.

In regards to putting KW's in your business name, your example with the Attorney certainly makes sense. But they clearly use "attorney" in their business name elsewhere. What about, for example, a Pressure Washing company called "ABC Spray". ABC Spray is their business name and they don't ever use the term "pressure washing" in their business name. Are you recommending that changing their business name as "ABC Spray Pressure Washing" is a good idea? I do understand this is technically against guidelines, just curious how you approach this kind of thing that's a bit more gray area. Love the vids, thank you!

If that is the keyword you are after I would simply add it the business logo. So you can have ABC spray and right under it "pressure washing". Add the new logo to your business profile and everywhere on your website then add the keyword to your business name. It's highly unlikely the listing will be suspended as you will somehow abide by the rules.

That's interesting. Sorry to hear that. It seems like there is a bug in the way Google is displaying translations. I would suggest you use the English version of your name in the Spanish field for now. Hopefully it will solve the issue

Hi Yuraaj. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can see the number of views per photo at the moment however you can still delete images. Go to your profile, from your listing click on photo. Select the photo you want to delete. From the top right hand side corner click on the bin icon.
