Sir how intelligent person like you overlook the EPFO internal circulation DTD 14.02.24. It clearly states 25:42 that whether you retired in 2020/21/22 pension will be calculated on pro rata.

Good analysis Harshavardhan. Keep it up. Govt and Establishments not interested in giving details of likely pension to pensioners. After death of pensioner and spouse the corpus of pensioner is not returned to next of kin of pensioner. It will be enjoyed by EPF. Letters are not clearly mentioning the procedure of depositing money to EPFO authority. So if a person has corpus, it is better to buy annuity or invest in any other instrument giving good intrest.

Very detailed & informative analysis, Sir. I have 3 queries: 1. For how many previous years can we claim benefit under sec. 89 of IT Act on arrears? 2. Is there any provision for exemption or rebate in IT Act on the amount that we have to refund to EPFO before getting arrears - OR is it one way traffic only? 3. I retired on 16.9.2014. Shall I also be placed in the similar category of 'beneficiaries' who retired post 1.9.2019, as pro-rata in my case shall be quite negligible (15 days + 59.5 months)?

Shri Harshwardhan Thanks for the explanation and making it very simple to grasp. However I am not clear about the breakeven. After deduction of pension received and IT liability at 30.04% (315583) net amount remains is Rs.467900. as against payment was made of Rs.613241/- which means excess payment of Rs.145341 was made (excl further int cost). This excess amount divided by additional pension works out to 19.65 months or 1.64 Years. Am I correct
