Please read my comments completely. It on the issue of interest calculation. You took lot of efforts and explained very well. Thanks for this valuable information. My opinion on interest on arrears - 1) EPFO has to charge the interest on HP arrears payable on upto the date of payment of Provident fund amt paid to the members (employee) and not upto the date of payment of arrears. Why so? - Explanation :- we have contributed pension amt., on ceiling amount i.e. rs. 6500/- ,15000/-, and whatever excess amount of basic calculation is contributed to PF amount and on that amount interest is given by EPFO. for example - Mr. A is having basic salary rs. 50,000 employer contributed rs. 1250 (15000 * 8.33%=1250) to pension fund, and rest amount rs. 4750 contributed to PF . Pf calculation- ((15000 * 3.67% = 550) + (35000 * 12% = 4200)) Total contributed to PF 4750), this amount epfo refuned to employee along with year wise applicable intersest on his retirement. Hence, epfo has to charge interest on arrears for higher pension only up to the date of pf amount paid to employee and not up to the date of payment of arrear for H.P. paid. Since, we are adopting HP scheme, whatever interest paid by epfo on difference amt, that they are recovering. As per act interest on pension amount is not applicable, hence we will not get interest on difference of H.P. amount. Conclusion - interest on h.p. arrears amount payable to epfo to be charge up to the date of pf amount paid to employee only and not on payment of arrears.. It is difficult to explain here more than this. Somebdy i.e. union/ organisation has to take this issue. I hope that, you will agree with my opinion. I will like your reply on this.
