It's sad what have happened to Britney's voice... She had a beautiful and creamy voice that was full and resonant - and she was able to sustain mid belts effortlessly. If her label didn't train her to sing in that faux baby tone, or had she quit smoking earlier - she might still be a really good singer. =/ So Hyang, Lara and Vanessa, such belting legends~~
@yureino6 жыл бұрын
Walter Velvet Gregson had she try to sing with “the right technique“, she wont be the legend she is today. Pop music is all about having beautiful tone, different and authentic vocal style, aside from catchy fast music & relatable slow songs. Having a good vocal technique is just a plus. Like who is sohyang and monica, great vocal technique but their vocal tones aren’t generally beautiful/authentic/different. Even beyonce is more known as a performer more than a vocalist.

Songsource, Hi, Hum...It is your taste. So Hyang's vocal tone is much more unique, clear and heavenly than others. And famous is not the best singer. I am in U.S, so I've known Beyoncé for a long time and listened to all the songs. By the way, I've known So Hyang for about three months. At first I was very shocked and really surprised that such an incredible singer is in this world. After that, I've been watching her performance videos and listening to her songs. She is now rapidly emerging as the world's best singer. She is already in the top of top ranks of singers in the world. Of course, Beyoncé is the world top class singer ! Have a good morning and day !

@@brucelee2871 You've known Sohyang now like 6 months? I've listened to her for over 20 years since she was a gospel singer and no one really cared about her because I've always loved talented singers. You wouldn't believe here in Korea how many people, especially opera singer, look down on her just because they think she screams all the time and her techniques are not great, both of them are not absolutely true. @@whatthell , Hello, It's obvious that you don't know music very well. The greater the difference between singer's vocal range and singer's supported vocal range, the weaker his or her voice becomes when he or she sings. Then they scream. Then they have problems with vocal cords and problems with singing. Sohyang is the incredible singer in the world with little difference between vocal range and supported vocal range. You should know that you are not familiar with musical knowledge and contents. Good day ! From the U.S.

Many of you always ask for me when a note is supported or not, and what are the supported range of famous singers. I've made this video in order to answer to your questions. Annotations: 1) Many of these singers can hit higher supported notes than their supported range, but are incostistent so aren't included in their supported range. 2) Some singers got worse as time went by like Mariah, Whitney, and others, so I've put in the video the supported range at their best. 3) Some singers got worse recently like Ariana and Demi and their supported range is reduced from c#5 to B4 for Ariana and C5 for Demi. 4) The supported Range doesn't define if you are a good singer or not, but the technique you are using. So singers like Taylor and Selena can sing too but not with right tecnique. 5) In the video some singers are Soprano while others Mezzo Soprano, therefore for Sopranos it is easier to support higher notes than Mezzo Sopranos. 6) Some singers instead are improving like Morissette and Jojo, but their supported range can't be still changed. 7) I hope you enjoyed the video! :)

Ariana Grande Vocal Analysis (2024) Voice type: Light-Lyric Soprano Vocal range: C3-B5-E7 (4 octaves and 2 notes) Range with the most consistent quality, comfort, and technique: G3-C#5/D5-G#5/A5 At best: F3-F5-C6 Lower register: (7/10) Low notes are bright and clear and have a good projection up to G3 consistently and F3 at best. Quite surprising for someone with a high tessitura considering her high sitting voice. However, she loses consistency, projection, and becomes airy and weak F3 and below. Mid-belts and mix: (7.5/10) Mid belts are surprisingly strong for someone who frequently utilizes a heady mix in her belts. Her approach in her mid-belts during her later years (2019 - ) is more balanced compared to her honeymoon era (2014-early 2016) where her approach is more heady and dangerous woman era (late 2016-2017) where her approach is chestier. She has good control over her mid-belts and it is more balanced, consistent, accessible, and more tensionless than people assume resulting in an open, free, well-projected, and controlled sound consistently especially from G#4-D5. Upper-belts/mix: (7/10) As a soprano like her, her ease and control in this area are good. She may not be the very best and the pinnacle of upper-belting out there, as some of her diehard fans tend to believe, but her consistency and stamina in this area is no joke. Although not consistently, she produces the best and balanced quality from Eb5-F5. As she goes higher beyond F5, she tends to sound thinner but still often avoids straining and too much tension up to G#5 (her signature upper-belting/mix note). However, she loses consistency when she reaches A5 and above which can sometimes be prone to tension, although this doesn't happen much as she was still able to possess a decent quality up to Bb5 especially in her be my baby and breathin performances most of the time. This ease and consistency in her upper-belting range is due to her heady approach with her mix and mixed-belts. Nowadays, she utilizes a more balanced approach (balanced head and chest mix) to her upper-belts/mix especially in her thank u, next and yours truly era. This balanced approach is evidently showcased especially in her sweetener tour and 2023 yours truly 10 year anniversary live performance where she produced a decent but balanced mix. Upper-register (head voice and falsetto): (7.5/10) Contrary to popular belief, Ariana utilzes her head voice just as much as she utilizes her falsetto. Her falsetto is probably one of the best that pop music has to offer. It is polished, smooth, controlled, and easily accessible. On the other hand, her head voice is also good and is consistently well-coordinated and connected up to A5. Performances such as moonlight, thinkin bout you, be alright, get well soon, and many more including song covers such as no one mourns the wicked and I wanna dance with somebody showcases her control and consistency in her head voice. She may not possess the best and most developed head voice in the music industry, but she can still keep up. Her head voice possesses a bright, strong, and roundness quality consistently up to F#5 and sometimes up to A5. However, her head voice can sometimes sound airy which limits her true potential. Further analysis with her head voice after the wicked (2024) movie will come out with her role as Glinda the good witch. Vocal Agility: (7.5/10) This may be the vocal skill she possess that has consistently improved over the years. She may not be as good as the best riffers out there like Mariah Carey, Tori Kelly, Beyonce, JoJo, and many others, but her vocal agility is definitely above average and is an integral part of her singing style. She can consistently execute vocal riffs and runs that are precise, fast, and complex with good creativity and musicality. The only downside is that there are few performances where she sounds pitchy and unstable and her vocal runs are sometimes repetitive. Lastly, during her early years, she tends to move her jaw a lot and fortunately, she got rid of that habit almost entirely. Whistle register: (9.5/10) One of the best whistle register user in her generation. Able to control her whistle with ease and is also able to create vocal runs and vocal phrases with it. Vocal Dynamics: (6.5/10) She has showcased vocal dynamics from time to time where she sang from pianissimo up to fortissimo. This is greatly showcased in her 2023 yours truly 10 year anniversary live performance. However, there are very rare cases of her showcasing crescendo and decresendo. Vibrato: (10/10) Her vibrato is one of the most controlled and well-developed that pop music has to offer. It can range from soft/subtle to aggressive/intense and can even shift to it smoothly. This great vibrato is also evident throughout all her register especially in her belts and upper-register. Vocal transition: (9/10) Able to easily and smoothly transition between registers from chest to head to whistle and with great control. Pitch: (8/10) Her wide vocal range allows her to hit high notes and low notes with good pitch accuracy. She rarely gets off-key and goes sharp/flat. Note: this analysis is based on an educated opinion and knowledge about vocals and music. Hence, this analysis is based on what I hear from the vocalist's live performances throughout the years. So feel free to politely disagree. Overall: 79.5/100 Overall comment: She is not as bad as critics say she is and also not as great as diehard fans made her out to be. Her development is distributed fairly evenly throughout range with her mid-belts and upper-register being currently the most developed register. Her major weakness may be that she tends to sing beyond her range with the most consistent quality, comfort, and technique. Fortunately, notes beyond her consistency are rarely strained, tensed, or weak. Lastly, her biggest asset may be her whistle register, musicality/creativity, vocal transition, and vibrato.

Maybe I just don't have a good enough ear, but most of the unsupported notes sounded just as good as the supported ones. Some sounded a little flat, so I could tell it was strained a lot, and some sounded obviously unsupported but others just... it didn't make a difference. Such a great video! You really focused on the step where singers used to lose support. I have just one thing to say about Taylor Swift: I know that she is mediocre as a vocalist and she's definitely an amateur when it comes to technique but I personally don't find her vocals to be that awful to be honest, she showed pretty decent vocal moments so I don't get why people claim that she has no support at all. Is she really that bad?
@tonalong72957 жыл бұрын
I don’t know about vocal . But she can support at her 1989 tour

The problem with Taylor she goes off key pretty quickly. She's terrible at that. Even Rihanna and katy can maintain key in few performances, Rihanna especially is very good at that. But Taylor just goes off key pretty much every performance

so, some are mezzo-sopranos, others sopranos, etc. I would say not to judge them for how high then can go, but how they play with the notes. Going very low is harder than going higher on a note ... much more difficult

Mmmm, not sure about many notes. Nicole's C#5 sounds tense as fuck, probably throat tension, and are "nasal" notes still supported? Because Gaga's supported notes are placed in the nose literally, almost like Celine's Eb5 but Celine has also throat tension and it sounded painful for that reason.. Same with Whitney's supported notes, I never really heard Whitney belting above Eb5 without placing the note in the nose, they don't sound well placed like this 7:55.
@resurgingflame6 жыл бұрын
A nasal note is still supported. Nasality just prevent a singer to resonate the notes
@valeriosiciliano42726 жыл бұрын
Oh ok, curious. Thanks for the answer. I think that nasality also makes easier to hit high notes, and it's a sort of flaw imo, but yes, i think it's doesn't really block support, if support is just something about vocal tract
