I feel you about the mohair thing. If mohair alternatives are something you’re interested in, I highly suggest you give Lana Grossa Bella a try, it’s a mohair alternative that’s 35% cotton, 25% baby alpaca, 30% nylon and 10% wool. It is SO soft, and so light (250m per 25g!) and super duper affordable. I find it much much more comfortable to wear than any mohair I‘ve tried.

Maybe check out the square neck camisole by Helene Beba or the Petal Drop Camisole by Florence Miller for summer fingering weight tops. Both are bra friendly. 😁

I was contemplating the petal drop top but omitting the lace detailing…I wonder what my gauge might be like?

Oh, I'm actually watching your podcast and knitting a Sophie Shawl with my Laines Du Nord poema glitter :D It's turning out beautifully, so I highly recommend this yarn for it!

Hi Emily, not sure if this is the direction you'd like to go for for a top, but maybe check out the Melides top by Ines Oliveira.

I have a size inclusive ribbed tank pattern (Ribbed To Your Measure) that you might want to check out for your special yarn. It ticks a lot of the boxes you mentioned and 2 skeins is more than enough!

Thank you!! I’ll be sure to take a closer look 😁

Hi Emily, you might want to try Camarose Midnatsol instead of Mohair. It’s made out of Alpaca, Wool and Tencel 😊

I’ve used it in hats before and I loved it!

Hi Emily, just a heads up. I knitted a sweater with the Lana Gatto mohair, and it's the most prickliest mohairs I tried. So I'd definitely recommend having something under it, otherwise it's not very comfortable.😊

Ohhh thank you for letting me know!! I’ll have to have a think about it, but I have since cast on my sibling sweater anyway lol 😂

if you like the look of camisole no 7 but want a size inclusive option, I think that knitting for olive's Y top is a good option. It isn't broken rib, but the shaping gives very similar vibes

Thank you! Yes o have the knitting for olive book and a similarly vibed pattern is the Chrysler top but I think it’s all twisted rib lol 😂

you could use the merilin and trio 1 (held duble) for a brown breeze bag, I used this yarn combination for that and it worked out perfectly! :)

That’s an interesting idea! I do love my market bag I knit last year

Maybe you can try using mohair for socks? I’ve knitted The Indoorsy Socks pattern by sonder yarn - holding fingering sock yarn + some left over mohair and they turned out real soft 🙏🏻

I LOVE a mohair sock…my only trouble is I prefer to machine wash my sock and the mohair always inevitably felts :(

I think the Air Tee in the Merlin would look so stunning! I just finished making my own version in the Isager Bomulin yarn and it's truly one of my favorite makes. Super fun to knit and a really versatile piece.

The collar on the mini mock neck is done last, so you can make it a regular neck if you want. The number 9 is a bit of a PITA knit sewing down the edging - it looks nice but the mini mock neck looks similar and is much much less fussy to knit.

How do you decide when to hold yarns together in a project? Or why do you do that? I guess I've never seen very many projects that call for holding yarns together, I always use either the suggested yarn or same-weight yarn.
@highfiberknits8 ай бұрын
That’s a great question! It depends on the project and what kind of fabric I am trying to get. A lot of Andrea Mowry patterns, for example, call for several different yarns to get different kinds of colourful effects. Other times it helps me to reach a gauge or I’m just feeling experimental! I do enjoy the look of marl or using yarns I’ve used before in a way that gives me an entirely different look!

omg i’m obsessed with the plans for the night shift shawl! if you’re worried about winding i would suggest taking it to a LYS and ask them to wind it up for you 😊

I might have to drop in for a knitty afternoon one day 👀…I’ve been taking a closer look at the pattern specs and I think the inclinations might be a better options for the pairing, but I did cast on a shift in other yarns!! Stay tuned 😁

The Balanced Skein knitted the Tonight Top last year and loved it, it appeared in her 2023 highlights as her more worn knit at work, if I'm not mistaken. Personally, I've kjnitted The One That I Want Crop by the same designer and it was the best written pattern I ever knitted, with the best fit in the finished object as well
