I'm English, lived in US for more than 25 years, but for 30 years or more Scotland was calling me. Finally at 57, widowed for 11 years, I've made it. I love it as dearly as anybody who was born here and will never leave. I have met very few people who begrudge me being here or resent the fact that I'm English, but to those who do, I'm not personally responsible for history and I can't change a thing. Fortunately, after 11 years alone I've found a Scottish man who doesn't feel that way!

What a wonderful moving video, one doesnt need to be Scottish to be stirred emotionally by this beatiful music. It just says all that Scotland is and stands for...

I went to a boarding school in Scotland for a year. The School's pipe band played it pretty much the same way in the memorial Hall on my last day there. Everytime I hear it, I have to remember that day and its hard not to start crying, cause it creates so much atmosphere. GREAT TUNE. The three English people who dislike this should just accept that it is a great piece of music!

I'm English but the sound of all those bagpipes together made my blood run cold and brought tears to my eyes. Bagpipes are very loud and rightly deserve to be :') All in tune & all in time... PERFECTION!!

Indeed fine choice for such a somber occasion, let her memory live on as the notes of this composition sound through the ages. My thoughts are with you now. Regards, David.

My partner and I, both senior citizens, are having this at our wedding on Saturday, before he begins treatment for a brain tumour. It will be a very quiet wedding, in our village church but I wanted something uplifting to walk out of church to. We both have Scottish heritage and this beautiful music seemed just right.

We heard this song at the Tattoo in 1988, by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. My daughter loved it so much, that it was played by a piper of the Atlanta Pipe band and our church's magnificent pipe organ for her wedding in 2000.

Another beautiful Scotish melody. I am not Scotish or descendent but I just love music from the Scotland and love the sound of the bagpipes and drums. Music soothes our soul, calm our temper, music is over all the differences the human race has, music united us.

I feel your pain and sorrow. My mother had passed away, too early in life as well. A devotee ofd Pipes and Drum . On June 2, 2012 the long dream of bringing the pipers et al had come to fruition. The Band of the Royal Regiment of Canada and 48th Highlanders came to Emmitsburg , Md and then marched into the Gettysburg National Soldiers Cemetery , after 149 years--pay homage to their fallen ancestors who fought here during the Battle of Gettysburg. very moving.

Excellent! This little discussion shows how music can affect different people in different ways. I did know it was German but, as you say, music isn't confined to borders. This is the kind of series of comments we need to see more of on the internet. On a more personal note, the sound of pipes playing this always gives me patriotic shivers!
