Scottish, German, who cares? No one who hears this can fail to long for the Highlands. This is the best version on KZbin, by far! Thank you for posting!

I want this played, exactly this arrangement, as they carry me in to my church, the First Methodist Church in Marion, Indiana. Just not for a long time to come!

Beautiful! There is something special with bagpipes, and the theme seems very emotive to me. Thank you.

Never heard anything so sweet before played on this combination of instruments! A sweet melody over a sweet harmony --- some part of me deep inside teared up.

How moving! It's a really beautiful piece. I don't know how to explain it, there is... magic. And the relationship with the images is impressive!

@david alexander - do you have any reference that there was a version of Highland Cathedral prior to the german piece composed in 1982? I have corresponded with Michael Korb, one of the two composers (the other was Uli Roever) and I am not aware of any preexisting piece. There was no 'traditional' version of this piece in other words.

All Scots know this was written by 2 German composers and really love how they beautifully composed a tune that we Scots truly love for ever .

+Julia Stahl I think if you ask the organist he would be able to play it. And you need to get a bagpipe player too. Regards !

Sorry but the bagpipes sound like a very sick sheep and the organ does not pull its full strength as it would sound in a brassband or regular massedband. I mis the part when "it all comes togerther in a bombastic part" I certainly have heard better versions. Sorry Sorry Sorry but this is my personal observation.
