That GG 11 Vw is quite damn good. I am even more generous with the score for this one personally- maybe an 88 or 89 for me. There was a soft savoriness and funk to it that I really enjoyed quite a bit along with the stonefruits, flowers, and esteriness. Glad you enjoyed it!

It's just a lovely raw GG. I don't think it has quite enough sauce for me to give it an 89, but I certainly don't regret having it around! 😁

I bought the same Mossburn Glen Garioch. I found the barrel finish washed out the spirit. It's good, but not what I wanted from Glen Garioch. I paid full price and found end of bin a few months later. $30 off.

For thirty bucks off in particular, it's really not bad. As long as you don't go into it (like I did) looking for more Geery-ness, I guess...

I have those two Garioch’s. I always consider it my lucky day when you review a bottle that I have. Agree with you that the Mossburn version is very tasty, but not very Gariochish; great to hear you validate that. The flavor note I always get from Glen Garioch is walnuts. For me there is a touch of that in the Mossburn and the usual amount in the Ultimate.

I'll be reviewing more bottles that you have pretty soon! 😁 It's not like the Mossburn is _bad_ right, it's just that it's... a normalish heavy dessert wine cask malt.

Yeah, and this is another reason why scoring is challenging and in general why I pay more attention to a reviewer’s descriptions than their scores. It’s also probably why I buy more bourbon matured malt than sherry matured because I perceive them to be better representations of the distillery character and they taste more unique. I appreciate the way you described both and were able to differentiate between them both by score and your description.
