Yep, Aberlour A’bunadh, Highland Park Cask Strength, and Ardbeg Corryvreckan (and maybe Laphroaig Cask Strength) are the only high proof scotches I need. Dillon is a genius.

Love the cask strength! Picked up the 3rd release after watching your release 2 video. Now it’s one of my favorites. Actually find myself picking this over the 15 year old Highland Park on my shelf. Haven’t seen the 4th yet on local shelves. Great video, keep it up. Can’t wait to see the updated line Highland Park Drink through. Very interested in your opinion on the 17 year old, The Light/Dark versions!

Hey would you guys be able to do a Jura drinkthrough? Having some tonight and always feel like I forget how comfy Jura 10 is.

Until I started drinking through vintages of Benromach CS this was probably my favorite thing in terms of under $100 cask strength Scotch. Still wonderful but there’s just something about the farmyard funk of Benromach that speaks to me. Combine that with their alternating between a berries and cream counterbalance and some batches which just drive home a savory brininess instead and I quickly became a convert. Onward to Ardnamurchan I guess? Curious your thoughts between the HP CS releases and these other distilleries…

Damn, never thought to do an Ardnamuchan vs HP CS with maybe a Springbank 12 blind. That'll be fun to do tonight!

ANNNND I found an old Glenlivet Nádurra 16 at 60.2% sitting in the cupboard that Ill sneak in there too. Again, brilliant idea John!

Always happy to help! How’d it turn out?
@javieracosta343910 ай бұрын
@@johnheintz3206 amazing! The Ardnamurchan CS remained the highlight throughout with it's fruity Hawaiian Punch and spice vibes but the Highland Park CS Batch 1 blossomed with water and brought out it's depth while making it a tad gentler to sip. The Springbank 12 and the Glenlivet Nadurra 16 where both all ex-bourbon matured and would almost be considered less complex going through blind. The SB12 maybe didn't take the water so well and the Glenlivet somehow continued to taste better the longer the evening went on. In the end, I was the winner 😆

I'd have to argue that the No. 4 didn't get a fair shake on this drink through. I think back to backing it with No.'s 1-3 would have over emphasized the sweet elements in No. 4. By the same token if you went back to No. 2, after the No. 4, you'd find it uncomfortably dry or even a little tannic. Still very fun experiment. Cheers.

Hey guys great review. Could you tell me how these compare to the Highland Park Single Cask 12 years with 1st fill european sherry hoghshead you had?
@CuriosityPublic10 ай бұрын
These are likely mostly younger distillate and the intensity of sherry influence is a little less in them. Would need to try them side by side, but from memory the single cask has more intense fruit notes and deeper flavors in general.
@Dai24088810 ай бұрын
Which would you say is better for the price. Is the single cask worth the premium?@@CuriosityPublic
@CuriosityPublic10 ай бұрын
@@Dai240888 tough call. The single casks will obviously vary cask to cask, etc. The Cask Strength is at least consistent per release and much cheaper. Really depends on how much you are comfortable spending! Personally, I would go for the Cask Strength - just a much cheaper option.

I hope the port is just a one off thing. I'm not the biggest fan of ported scotch, and the HP flavor profile is just too good to fuck around with. I'll take sherry over port 100% of the time.
@mk.570610 ай бұрын
Sherryfinish is bread and butter, portfinish is a rare occasion thing, which doesn’t always fit, also it’s not done easily. Ever tried Glenmorangies Quinta Ruban? That’s a port finish to perfection and for relatively small money. My secret weapon whenever the discussion comes to what big companies couldn’t do.
