I'm in the midst of another customer basket cushion replacement and I have had good luck with Hinson replacements. Most are older RD400's and RZ350's. They have been reduced to half the size and broken. Not my most fond job but some people cant afford the $300 new basket and $60 for cushions is there limit. Thank you for your reply to my curiosity, at age 67 it never seems to end.

Hey Morgan Im curious about the Hinson Momentum basket. In your opinion would a little more rotating mass for tractable power be beneficial? SUPER SICK CLUTCH DUDE!
@highlandcycles4 жыл бұрын
I think it is a great way to add traction and slow the wheel down a bit. I have a weighted flywheel on this bike already.

@@highlandcycles I'm about to tear into my 08 CRF450R which has an internal oil leak, engine oil is leaking into tranny after all these years. I want to make it stall less for slow technical riding...it's pretty terrible for "trail" riding and I don't ride the track much these days. Anyway, I'm going to install the Hinson Momentum basket during this project and try it out. I figure if it still stalls easy after that mod, I can still add a rekluse auto-clutch to prevent the stalling, but I prefer a real clutch.

put the nut on with plates not installed then give inner hub a rotation, it should freewheel then you know you didnt put the nut on too tight....

Curiously, why did you not use new Hinson Cushions, instead of the old ones from a basket you have been having problems with?
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
They weren’t available at the time and also they weren’t the problem. The basket was the issue.

Should have used a star pattern when you tighten bolts.
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
In some applications that is super important. With this it isn’t.

Did they recommend to peen the end of the bolts on the basket as well as red loctite? Im not a big fan of wiseco, but I used their basket in my YZ cause it came with the gear as well. I remember having to peen the bolts with a punch.
@highlandcycles4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about that on the Hinson. I haven’t ever done it on one but have on the wiseco. I’ve never had an issue on one as long as I use loctite and make sure they are dry.

You didn't put the gasket on your clutch cover, you didn't torque the spring bolts, and starting bolts with a impact? Come on man😂
@highlandcycles3 жыл бұрын
The gasket is an o ring that is inset in the cover and I have seen more stripped bolts on covers from torque wrenches. I do this every day and I’ve never stripped a cover bolt.
@highlandcycles3 жыл бұрын
And the spring bolts are effectively held in with the springs. The tension that is on those bolts will keep them from backing out as long as you get them pretty tight. I see people strip those all the time too be cause they use a torque wrench on them. If you ever get to a pro motocross or supercross event you will see that the mechanics in the pits don't use torque wrenches for those or the cover bolts either.

@@highlandcycles broken many covers with torque wrenches, just snug! like psi in rear tire, havnt used gauge in years. then again i use boobliss now...
