Subbed and liked thank you so much. I tried Rokks and have never been able to get it to work and I he did try to help me but it won't work. So I have carried on paying for and using streamyard at only 720p which I hate but 1080p is ridiculously expensive. If this works and I can finally get pop up chat in my livestreams using OBS this will be unbelievable. I will still have to use stream yard for streams with guests in because the audio problems I have had trying to do a stream with a guest or multiple guests on OBS has been beyond my brain to figure out. I have watched videos with virtual audio cables to make the sound work but man it is like ridiculously difficult! But when I am just doing a regular watchalong (mine is a football channel in the UK so all we can do during lockdown is watchalongs and guest interviews etc can't do match day vlogs hopefully soon) if I can pop up chat in OBS then holy macaroni this is a LIFE CHANGER!

For guests... Check out OBS.ninja , Rokk and I used it on a show we used to do called Gen X Gaming Club. It basically takes a person's live camera feed, and then you can shove it anywhere in your scene.

I haven't managed to get this to work so far as I keep getting the monkey icon which says oops something went wrong when I try to bring the live chat pop out link into a Dock?

Good up until the chat pops up in the extension window. Yours is black background, mine is white. When I add the color filter and match the white in makes the type transparent and it looks pretty bad. I do not know how to change the background to black like yours is. Or, I cannot make it transparent like yours is with the color filter because it forces the white type to become clear.

You should be able to make changes to background and font colour etc in the Chrome app extension (options) . I have background colour set to transparent.

In not sure what everyone else is seeing that I'm not seeing. After creating the window, the tutorial seems to skip a very important step. Am I missing something? I have the chrome plug-in ready to go but there's no option to import anything and when I follow your directions all I get is a blank window with no option to capture my open chat window. Glad it was useful. I use OBS for my streams - and Streamlabs for the alerts (subs, superchats etc) - super easy to do. Just visit Streamlabs and log on using your YT account. (no need to download or pay for anything).... I create my own intros and outros - again, just have a still image and a count down clock as an intro

In OBS I create a separate scene just for Chat Highlight. Then use it as a "nested Scene" in my main scene - and set it up as required. Hope that makes sense. Then all I need to do is just update the URL each time...

For me, I cropped the chat window via the chrome extension app, and then saved it the way you did. Yes, same thing happens to me and it's driving me crazy. I think alt+clicking the message might work as a workaround, paying attenton not to click any of the icons that appear when alt+clicking, but I haven't really tried it while I'm live.

Nice stuff! Thnx! But I've found that it is better to add a BROWSER in OBS, rather than window capture. From the pop out chat window just copy the overlay URL, and add to OBS, no need to crop the window, add the black filter colour etc. It displays the highlighted message only. The only down side is, that the chat URL changes :( , so just need to remember to c&p it into OBS everytime.

Yes, it should do as you are just taking the URL of the chat *(after you've popped it out) and adding to a scene using the browser option

Make sure you watch the update video. The only steps you need to repeat each time is pop out the YT chat and grab the url for the browser source in your OBS

It should automatically adjust (sp long comments don't go off side of screen). Make sure you set the size of the OBS scene/source to the size of your output (i,e, 1920 x 1080)

Is there a way to make the popout chat dockable in OBS Very difficult to work with when I keep having to toggle back an forth from OBS to select a new Comment. The is no way to keep the chat on top either.
