Well the way I see things they have already been the upside down couple. Nathan declared he loved Elizabeth in S8. Nathan said he knew Elizabeth felt the same....They hadn't even dated yet. Even though Elizabeth was fearful and rejected Nathan romantically at that time. Nathan knew it was fear holding Elizabeth back. But Nathan gave Elizabeth space to figure out her heart. Elizabeth figured out her mind and heart didn't agree with one another in S10 Lucas she realized it wasn't the right relationship for her. He was a safe choice. Elizabeth realized her heart was with Nathan. Because in S8 & S9 Nathan really became Elizabeth's friend and they developed a deep connection and love for one another. They were giving each other advice about their kids and parenting together. So this is why she broke up with Lucas in S10. Now S11, Elizabeth and Nathan are finding their way to each other as a couple.. This episode, when Nathan gave Jack Jr. that money in tonight's episode, I'm like that is so a "dad" thing to do. Next week's episode is supposed to be an emotional one for Allie. I think Elizabeth will be like a "mom" to Allie helping Nathan with her and the problems involving Allie's biological dad, Dylan Parks. Nathan and Elizabeth already remind me of a married couple. If WCTH writers have them marry in the season finale I wouldn't be completely shocked. I would be totally happy and excited!!! If this does happen I hope next season 12 promo picture from Hallmark is the blended family together. That would be perfect!

Agreed! If you look closely, their dancing hold/posture is just like Rosemary & Lee's, a couple married for about 10 years! I predict that although Elizabeth and Nathan are a slow burn, things will escalate quickly towards the end of the season. I personally think they will elope. I think the main wedding will possibly be another couple (maybe Mei and Mike) while N/E get married secretly (ie "exchange secrets" as said in the final episode description. M/M may be a red herring to cover up the shock value of an N/E marriage.

He hand one hand available to her for Elizabeth to take. So what that his other hand had been in his pocket. Elizabeth got him on the dance floor with her. That all that matters! Does any Hearties feel the same as me this line is going to be used again. Nathan said, "You know I never said yes" and then Elizabeth said "yeah, but you were gonna." I think it will be used in reverse. Nathan will ask Elizabeth to marry him. Then he will slip a ring on her finger. I think the line will be used again but this time it will be Elizabeth saying "you know I never said yes" and then Nathan saying "yeah, but you were gonna"

I think this episode was the last episode for the actor who plays Tom. But I want to see him move to Hope Valley. It would be good for Jack Jr. to know his uncle. I think Faith and Tom would be an okay pairing as a couple too.

There were absolutely NO thoughts of Nathan when Lucas proposed to Elizabeth. Heck, Elizabeth was practically proposing to Lucas herself. AND this is why the breakup of E&L was so ridiculous & unbelievable....except to those fans who wanted E&N together. In their minds, any storyline would have been good as long as it went back to the Teacher/Mountie. So, so sad because stories of a Mountie/Doctor, Nathan & Faith, could have been GREAT.

He would realize Elizabeth was fearful of being with another mountie. So, she was choosing safety and comfort over a great love with Nathan. Tom may have been the one to call Elizabeth out knowing his brother wouldn't want her compromising her happiness out of fear of losing another mountie. Tom would know Jack would want Elizabeth to find a genuine long lasting forever love, a great love with Nathan!

She needs to be the one making all of the moves after the way she treated him when he told her that he loved her. He's been burned by her once and then she treated him like he had some horrible disease that she was afraid to catch. She needs to have a heart to heart conversation with him about how and why she treated him that way and ask for his forgiveness. You can tell that he wants to kiss her but he's holding back because he's still fearful of her turning on him again.

Elizabeth says: "Yeah, but you were gonna..." and this is reflective of what happened earlier in the episode where Nathan gives Little Jack some money to buy a candy apple...and Elizabeth responds: "I don't remember saying yes..." and Nathan says: "Yeah, but you were gonna..." So, it parallels an earlier scene from the episode. The loving, teasing humor between these two is magic!

It's hard to understand the twist in the series because it didn't make any sense. In Seasons 8 & 9, Elizabeth gave her 'whole heart' to Lucas. She made romantic comments to Lucas like, 'Our Time Has Come', and 'If We Should Marry', 'give me a kiss', 'even if everything was lost in the fire there'd still be LOVE', 'I LOVE YOU', 'Yes to it All', etc. Their eyes had so much love when they looked at each other. And most of all, total electricity when they kissed. Plus, Lucas had a fantastic, loving relationship with Little Jack. Then a few days after Lucas proposed with help from Little Jack & Elizabeth said yes, the writers 'flipped' the storyline with Elizabeth breaking their engagement because she was 'always in Love' with Nathan...a man she never had a date with. Totally, totally unrealistic, unbelievable & making Elizabeth look unbalanced.

Their storyline is slow, boring & has no spark or excitement for future adventures. Lucas may be a dreamer, but he kept life fun & loving. He only wanted to stay in HV as a happy family with Elizabeth & Little Jack, keep running the saloon & library & contribute to a better way of life for the people of HV. It seems the flip in Lucas' storyline is to darken his character. Lindsey Sterman, Showrunner, said Lucas would be a 'Hero'....when? I no longer trust or have much respect for what Lindsey or Brian Bird say. I'm happy that the actors are getting a Season 12, but if Season 11 doesn't get a little better by the end, I'll no longer watch. I physically can't watch & enjoy what's happening to HV, especially Elizabeth & Nathan.

Je pense qu’Erin a mentionne en entrevue que l’amour entre Nathan et Elizabeth est un amour mature. Ce qu’Elizabeth avait avec Lucas etait bien, mais c’était un amour de jeunes adultes. Elizabeth et Nathan sont « parents », leur perspective de la vie et de l’amour est differente de celle de Lucas. J’adore le personnage de Lucas de cette saison, je pense que sa relation avec Elizabeth lui a permis de passer à autre chose, de faire une rupture avec son passé romantique (Jeannette).

Crazy how the writers are doing similar scenes with N & E in season 11, that Lucas & Elizabeth shared in previous seasons before the writers decided to trash Lucas & Elizabeth's love story!! Supposedly the writers also broke up Lucas & E because there wouldn't be any more story lines for the couple. Which is Ridiculous!! Yet, nothing new written in season 11 for N & E, just a redo of Lucas' creative, caring, sensitive, romantic, and loving way to wooooo Elizabeth and win her heart!! Then, the writers trashed ALL that at the end of season 10, all the love was a big lie for E!! E expressed her love for Lucas and not N!! I don't trust E or believe her character anymore!! I'm super disappointed and devastated still in the break up and that the writers went with N & E. Sooo fake to watch N & E, anyway you slice it in season 11. Plus copying similar scenes with N & E that Lucas & E shared! Can't stand to watch N & E together anymore!! The writers have been "heartless" to the hearties who fell in love with Lucas and Elizabeth's courtship, love story, and engagement!!

Totally, 100% agree with you. IMO, the main thing the writers accomplished in Season 10 was to COMPLETELY ruin Elizabeth's character. To 'lust' after another man while engaged & still Kissing her fiance was a horrible storyline to change to. 😮😢 Unfortunately, the show is getting very boring because of the copied storylines & especially because the relationship between Elizabeth & Nathan is very blah & boring.

What a big baby he is...if he is so in love with Elizabeth why could he not ask her to dance...then when she asked she had to pull him to the dance floor and then made the stupid remark that he never said yes...this relationship is so incredibly STUPID!!!

This was a call back to the ladies choice dance, when Elizabeth asked Lucas to dance and watched Nathan the whole time. Faith asked Tom to dance and Tom encouraged Elizabeth to ask Nathan. Nathan is very respectful of Elizabeth and waits for her to be ready for romantic gestures. He doesn't force his way. He is honest with his words, he has confessed his love, but he waits to respect her and her body and when she is ready. She also held his hand and then they walked side by side, she did not drag him. They were very specific in how they conveyed the scene. Nathan is a real human. He makes mistakes and life with him is raw and real. Honestly, my Husband and I are the same way and we laugh about these kinds of things all the time, together, like running into something. If you go back to season 6 and you watch only Nathan and Elizabeth's scenes together all the way to now, it becomes very clear that without huge romantic gestures (which make her uncomfortable and that isn't really even fair to Lucas) they have a solid foundation. She and Lucas began to realize that they do not speak the same love language. Once the excitement of getting together wore off, they started to struggle while planing a future. They did have romance, but they couldn't find their way in a friendship. Elizabeth longs for a man with certain character traits. Nathan has also expressed that he wants to live his life in Hope Valley. He wants to not do grand things (which really make her uncomfortable over time). Her relationship with Nathan reminds me so much of my Husband and I. We have a beautiful friendship, but there is also incredible passion that has been birthed from that. These are actually romance troupes used in books and movies. It's totally ok that we all prefer a different troupe, likely ones that we can relate to in our own lives. As I can really relate to this one, I have a different perspective. I like Lucas. He's a great guy, but he doesn't fit for the future that Elizabeth wants for herself and Jack. For me, I wouldn't feel comfortable with someone who always knows what to say and does huge romantic gestures. I would prefer a love comes softly relationship. That's really the point here though, the question is not what we prefer but what does Elizabeth prefer. Rosemary talked about how some people come into your life for a reason, a season and some a lifetime. It turned out that Lucas was for a season. She loved him, but she couldn't give her whole heart because they didn't match up quite right.

@shellybarnes5429 Amen!!! I had the same with my husband. I love Nathan because he's not an orchestrated date kind of guy. His romance comes directly from him in the way he looks at her, gets her, and connects on a deeper level. Why do people think this is highschoolish? It's not. It's called romance from deep soulmate connection, a best friends to lovers relationship that doesn't need all the contrived and orchestrated dates & gestures. That is more mature than anything you'll find in 8th grade. I bet if the exact same kind of reactions happened with Lucas, they'd all think it was beautiful. And to anyone saying they're repeating what L&E did, they are not, its a different love language with more nuance, subtext, and connection. Im not saying Lucas's way is wrong. It just wasn't the kind of relationship that fulfilled Elizabeth to her core. What man wants a half-hearted relationship? There is someone out there to fulfill Lucas too, he just hasn't found it yet.
