Love the idea of a "sentimental box" for things that you love but can't use anymore! My sister kept 2 old lipsticks from the 90s or early 00s, and they're actually super sentimental to *me* because I remember her giving me "makeovers" when I was little (we're fifteen years apart) in these 90s-esque metallic brown shades. We also kept my grandma's red lipsticks after she passed away (Revlon Love That Red and similar reds were her everyday colors. I only ever saw her without her signature red lip when she first woke up or right after a meal lol).

I recently got the Essence Pure Nude as a gift w/purchase @ Ulta, & I was shocked by just how dark it is. The formula IS lovely, but on my skintone, I'd only be able to use it as a bronzer-topper. I wish that both the Essence & Laura Mercier would come in a porcelain-appropriate, neutral champagne or pearl. I love the LM matte-radiance formula, & w/in-store lighting it looked workable; but I can only use it over the high-color on my cheekbones. I'm really excited for the new LM highlighting palette. It's a trio of colors in the "Devotion" shade's formula, & the light trio includes a white, pale pink, & maybe "Devotion". I don't know when it's being released, but that's coming home w/me ;)

It isn't only me!!!! I got the ABH x Amrezy highlighter and I wanted to love it. The color is just too gold and it doesn't matter what colors I wear it doesn't flatter my face. I ended up selling it to a girl here who was getting married and wanted to wear it on her wedding day but it was sold out. She was excited and I was happy it got a home where it would be loved. For your videos ... I think it would be neat to see a sentimental makeup box.

Mary Lou was my first ever real highlighter, I think before then I was using an eyeshadow from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar or an Essence Eyeshadow, so it's definitely a sentimental one for me as well. I still use mine quite a bit especially lately as I've been quite a bit more tan then normal (more NC15 than NC10 which is just crazy for me).

essence has at least two more pure nude highlighters out. the one I have is a sheer white base with a really gorgeous and intense pink shift when you move. it’s the shade 20 be my spacelight and I love it. I’m a few shades darker than you with neutral to yellow undertones and can pull off the original pure nude highlighter, but I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of both of them. they have a green shifted shade in the pure nude line as well but I’m assuming that’s not necessarily a shade you’d get a lot of use out of!

I threw the Elf one out as well. I scraped the top off but it was too glittery for me. Love the Mary Lou-manizer. I bought the Cindy Lou-manizer but found it too dark. Someone said they use it for blush so now I do that. It's pretty nice. Great video Arna ♥

Ahhh! I feel the same way about MaryLou! I know I need to move on, but she means so much. It was the first and only highlighter I've ever bought. She's probably 4 years old, and she was the first higher end product (at full price) I ever bought. I've almost hit pan. I really want to before I give her up. She'll sit with my expired UD delux eyeshadow palette in purple velvet packaging. I can't throw them away! I like the idea of sentimental product box. I don't think it's a bad thing if it's not taking up too much space. 😊

Tobren Watson sorry I’m not Arna but I do have Vanilla Quartz ☺️ I bought the cheaper mini version which I’m happy about because it’s not amaaazing. I’m very pale so I thought it would be 100% perfect but something about it’s iridescence isn’t the most flattering on my skin tone I guess. Also it only lasts a few hours!!! I look like I didn’t use any highlighter at all by mid afternoon. I’m happy to have tried it because I’ve never tried Becca before, and I still use it occasionally, but it’s not a favourite.

I love the idea of "sentimental journey" video for your keepsake makeup! Yes, please. Not being able to return-for-refund makeup here in Oz is such a pain - I dread to think of the value of the stuff I've handed off to my sister that was too warm and/or too dark for me. KZbin these days is such a boon, with people like you Arna demonstrating colours and stuff - I don't have nearly the number of "shopping mishaps" I used to (still happens occasionally, but I'm not wasting nearly the amount of money I used to).

I had the same problem with Albatross. It was just too yellow even though it had a really nice formula. I'm experimenting with mixing it with other products to see if I can get some more use out of it though I think I'll probably just get Double Gleam as I did want a gold for summer. I had the Laura Mercier too and I had the same issues with it and never ended up reaching for it. So I felt guilty and ended up gifting it to my mom lol. I have some recommendations for you: MUFE Pro Fusion Highlighter in Golden Pink and Dior Nude Air Luminizer in 002 (the pink shade). These are actually basically the same product since LVMH owns both and the MUFE (in the US at least) is cheaper. But they're gorgeous neutral glossy non-sparkly gelee pink highlights that I constantly reach for. For a wham! highlight, Burberry Fresh Glow Highlighter in White is amazing (and more intense than Dior, so I don't use it as much). It's a gelee too but more sparkly.

Hey Arna, if you've not yet picked up the Dior they actually re-launched them in a cheaper series with no included brush: www.temptalia.com/swatches-diorskin-nude-luminizers/ They have Glowing Pink/002 in this series and I think the formula is even nicer :) The holo color is actually super nice too, and I'm not one for holo colors! If Dior Backstage has launched in your country, I actually have gotten a ton of use out of the glow palette- the white highlighter, blush, and bronzer are all useable for me, and the gold one is a bit darker than I'd go normally but the base isn't too dark so it isn't terribly noticeable. A win! xoxo

I have super light skin and it works on me! I would say I have a neutral undertone to my skin and it doesn't look too gold on me at all! Even though I am more neutral toned and pale, compared to Arna I definitely have more warmth in my skin tone than she does. Hope that helps! :)

Yep I think it was the golden undertone that prevented it working for me and had a touch too much back pigment on it so it looked a bit muddy

i absolutely love the amrezy highlighter but then again my skin is a nc46. There are so many beautiful highlighters that are too light for me. So i completely understand how hard it can be to find makeup. If your too fair or too dark its hard finding products that work for you. I was so excited for the loreal pro glow but in Australia it only goes up to 208 and im 210. i got it online and loved it so i stocked up when i went to the states. Australia needs to up there game with getting all the shades that are released in the states

I thought I was a bit odd because of keeping some make-up long expired just because it has sentimental value. I am so glad that I am not the only one! I have two Mary Quant creme blushes in little black pots with silver lids...and every time I look at them (I don't use them anymore) I remember exactly when I bought them and what was going on with my life right then. Now I don't think I am so odd after all. After saying that, however, I also have gotten over feeling guilty because I have TWO highlighters! :o)

i don't think a sentimental makeup collection is weird at all! I keep sentimental shoes. Usually because they're so uncomfortable I can't wear them anymore. But they're also too beautiful and I can't get rid of them. You can create a makeup time capsule and revisit the items in like 5 years.
