@@Ps_Arnold Nah, he had periods of playing well for United, they were always cut short by either an injury or being benched for an out-of-form or declining Rooney, Van Persie or Berbatov, because he was a home-grown youngster, lowest in the pecking order. He always ran his socks off, unlike the aformentioned three, and even if he wasn't as reliable a goalscorer as them, he often outperformed them overall. He was a great squad player who deserved to spend his whole career there, keeping the big money signings on their toes. He could have been a striker version of Ji-Sung Park, but Van Gaal told him he was 5th choice after two declining stars, Chicharito and some striker fresh from the academy who he'd seen play like twice. Since letting him go United have yet to find someone actually better than him in the long term, just a mixture of outright duds and one-season wonders who fizzle out.

And even though the tackle on Pedro was clean to te extent that Gibbs got the ball, I am strongly of the opinion that in 2024, that tackle was as reckless as it comes and is deserving of a booking. Ten years ago if I was a ref, that's a play on for me. Not today.

As a United fan, trust me when I say that results don't actually matter, the point of watching football is entertainment. It's better to be entertained for 90 minutes and drop points than be bored and/or frustrated for 90 minutes week in week out but maybe win a trophy through sheer dumb luck.
