Rewatch the buildup play leading to the penalty and remind me that the Sounders are a "good" defensive team. When there is no pressure on the ball, you need to drop defensively to protect against a route 1 ball over the top.

It doesn't even look like Frei actually prevented him from scoring, since the striker's last touch was likely too heavy.. Desperate and ugly to play the man like that, and I hope Stef will avoid playing like this in the future. As a long time Sounders fan, who loves Stefan, I would rather see us lose with honest sportsmanship, respect and dignity, than win with shade or desperate dishonesty.

That’s a big of a stretch, you can see how he takes that touch but the ball goes low instead of high, which is why Frei extends like that. Really bad decision and reflex but there is no way that is malicious or “ugly” play.

The rule should be that if the attacking player cannot get to the ball, there should not be a foul or a red card. Sounders Suck!!! Glad I did not waste my money on AppleTV!!!!!

That red card was unnecessary. Frei barely touched him and he went down after realizing he touch was too far ahead of him. What a joke this team/referees are.

Frei got both knees. It was a PK and a red card. BUT... I thought if the player was going for the ball and it was called a PK, then it was only a YC.
