I'm very skeptical about the functionality of the first bit. It seems like too many manipulations to get right in the middle of a fight.

BI hear ya! Evan is an amazing martial artist, a reall killer, real fighter. I just wouldn't use the sorang. I practice FMA myself but the sorang is the last weapon I would go for, would prefer to use me hands. But that's just a subjective thing
